Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

"But I want to say now that, if you want to know what will happen to me if we don't qualify for the Champions League, then I will say this: I have a contract with Liverpool and I am very happy here. I will stay." - Luis Suarez, January 31, 2013, after signing his new contract with Liverpool.

I hope this makes things clear for everyone. That whole interview gives me no hint of any verbal agreement whatsoever with the manager. Moreover, verbal agreements are worth nothing. I could say one day to you, "yeah son, I understand you have a lot of ambition, but just give it your all, and we'll get CL. If we don't get CL next year, I'll consider any offers if Real/Barca come knocking".

Other points to note -
A) Spurs did not sell Modric in precisely the same circumstances - Modric had some notion of a verbal understanding in that case, with the chairman Levy.
B) If there was anything legally binding in his contract, the club wouldn't have held their position so strongly.
C) He says he gave it his all - that means biting an opponent and getting banned for 10 games?

Jesus, I can't believe I'm having to defend the club and manager from the accusations of a third-class individual, and that too from our own supporters.

RM, Barca, PSG, Manchester City or Bayern Munich are the sort of clubs that would normally show an interest in a world class striker with the ability of Suarez especially if they know that he wants to move to a club that is competing in the CL. They will be monitoring Suarez's behaviour and will be aware of his history. Personally I think that a lot of clubs have decided that Suarez is more trouble than he is worth and that is why there have only been two bids during the last six weeks from Arsenal and I'm not really sure that those bids are to be regarded as serious.

I don't think clubs like RM will really care about his complaining, because he can't really have anything to complain there - money or ambition wise. I don't get why they're not interested in him.

Perhaps his history is a clue to the lack of interest. The problem is not just his complaining is it. Can you think of any player that has caused LFC the same level of embarrassment that Luis has wether it has been his fault or not. I love his football and determination but he is definitely a couple of cans short of a full crate. I still want him at Anfield next season. Watching him take a 50 yard pass over his head and control it perfectly before slotting the ball into the back of the net is not something I cannot give up easily. He is a flawed genius and that just has to be accepted. That is why the supporters haven't given up on him.

I think it's the fact he bites people that'll be putting them off.

Q. Why the lack of interest in Suarez from the likes of Barca, Bayern, Real, Man City, Chelsea etc???

A. Because even in a circus, they don't take in rats that will bite the hands off its master, or try to plot an escape every now and then!
*oh well...maybe Real Madrid just might surprise and reach a new low...again!

Anyway, LS said that if the situation is not sorted, then he will submit  a Transfer Request. Why would he,  if, as he says, there is a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if there is a £40m plus offer for him. Hmmm, perhaps the so called clause is not cast iron.......... ???

Additionally, his advisor's, who are they? Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costelloe...no that would be way way to good for them. more like sewer rats.

Do what Whiskey Nose did with Gabriel Heinze, WN stopped him from moving to LFC because we are a rival. We do the same in this situation. I'm telling yeh, he will not be going to the Arsew1pes.

Simple as this really. It's all about meeting the asking price now

Stevie Heighway on the wing

I'm worried about an arbitration panel ruling in his favour, that would be a bit embarassing for the club. Wanting out of Liverpool so bad he'd take formal action to force a move to Arsenal? Verbal terms are binding though they're incredibly difficult to prove. The PFA already seem pretty much against the guy so I'm hoping that helps our case a bit, either that or they just hate anyone in a Liverpool shirt  :D

The Head of the PFA was on Talksport this morning, basically saying that if it goes through to them, then it is going to take time to resolve the issue...that is, it'll be after the Transfer Window closes

and what would the effect of that be then? Sanction the move outside of the window and leave us with nothing? Or agree the move til January and we let him rot in the resssies in the meantime?
