Because he isn't going to be any good for us now - look how Torres played when he didnt want to be at the club - just a waste out on the pitch. Let Arsenal deal with his problems and we use the money to buy some quality players to fill the gaps.

Sell him to Arsenal then being in some quality players.

Selling him to Arsenal would be a huge mistake, i agree we should get rid but not to a direct rival. Tell him hes going abroad or hes staying put, we need to stick to our guns to ensure we get a big price for him

We won't get much more than the 40 mil being offered - far too much baggage on him and Arsenal haven't been a direct rival for 4 seasons

how are they not a direct rival? were aiming for the top 4 and so are they, if there not a direct rival i dont who is! if we sell to Arsenal then we have practically zero chance of competing with them

The last four seasons we have been 7th/6th/8th and 7th - we are competing with the BS and at the moment teams like Swansea - Spurs and Arsenal are competing for the final CL spot - we haven't got anywhere near it for years now.

If we want to compete seriously then go and buy players that give us that chance. Even if Suarez stays we won't get anywhere near once again.

Might as well and use the money properly - spend big on getting 3/4 players and then get the CL place whilst Arsenal miss out.

why would you advocate the sale to arsenal benny ?
do you not think our own challenge is hard enough without making theirs stronger  :eyebrow .
if any one from the club sanctions that deal then it should be there last.

Keeping him won't help us one bit now - using the money to get some quality into the squad will

The team won't crumble if we sell Suarez to Arsenal - if it does then it shows how weak our squad is then

no the team wont crumble if he goes but he will not be replaced with 3 or 4 quality players. we will be lucky to sign one.
selling arsenal a potential 30+ goalscorer isnt going to work in our favour. especially one that is the calibre of suarez. we would be fooking idiots if we did and again the laughing stock of the league.

If we can't even sign one quality player mate then we are fecked either way - if we can't get quality players into the team then we will just move backwards. Nothing from now will work in our favour but we will have to make the best of it we can - we should be our there right now sorting out quality players to arrive - pay a little bit more or offer a bit more wages but its not going to happen - and that's what's wrong with the club right now and that's why we are battling around 6th or 7th in the league and that's why Suarez wants to leave and soon it will be Coutinho

he still should not be sold to a direct rival. if it means they take only 35mil off a foreign club then so be it.
look no one is surprised about this situation escalating to where it is and if FSG and BR had that verbal agreement with suarez then it makes us look like right titties. they had to of known this could arise and should have taken steps to combat it ages ago.

Which foreign club is going to bid for him now ? Or even go anywhere near £40mil ? I don't think we realise just how much his baggage puts a lot of clubs off him.

Luis Suarez showing a 'total lack of respect', says Rodgers

“There were no promises made - categorically none - and no promises broken,” Rodgers said.

“The club and his representatives had several conversations and he knew exactly where he was at.

"I think Luis knows the support he's had at the football club and that's something that's been unswerving throughout the whole of last season.

“Obviously the remarks I've read are bitterly disappointing - but my job is bigger than that.

“My job is to fight and protect the club. The conversations I've had with him, he knows I've had and they will remain private.

“I will take strong, decisive action, absolutely. There has been total disrespect of the club - this is a lack of respect of a club that has given him everything. Absolutely everything.

“I really, really feel sorry for the supporters, people that have sung his name. We have travelled the world over the course of this pre-season. 85,00 fans were singing Luis' name in Jakarta. It was the same in Australia, in Thailand and at Steven Gerrard's testimonial.

“I don't believe there is a clause in his contract that says he can leave for any sort of price.”

The ECHO understands that Liverpool's owners remain absolutely adamant that Suarez will not be sold to the Gunners, regardless of whether they increase their offer over the coming weeks.

Liverpool's Rodgers on THAT Luis Suarez interview: I'll take decisive action - there's been total disrespect of the club
7 Aug 2013 22:32

Reds' angry manager denies promising wantaway striker a transfer as chairman Henry insists he'll NEVER sell him to Arsenal

Luis Suarez has been banished to the Liverpool FC wilderness for what his furious boss Brendan Rodgers has branded “a total lack of respect”, writes David Maddock in Oslo.

The disgraced striker will be forced to train on his own after his astonishing outburst - cynically designed to engineer a move away from Liverpool - provoked the wrath of his manager and the club’s owners.

Feelings are running so high at the Anfield giants that it is understood chairman John Henry has vowed ‘never to sell Suarez to Arsenal’.

The South American has accused Rodgers of “lying”, but the Reds manager insisted he is so angry not because of the personal attack, but because Suarez has shown so little respect to the club and to his team-mates, both with his comments and with his attitude.

And now, even though Arsenal, who have controversially offered £40m plus one pound, will be told to forget any prospect of a deal after the saga's latest twist, the only way the controversial striker will play for Liverpool again is if he makes a public apology.

“I will take strong, decisive action, absolutely. There has been total disrespect of the club - this is a lack of respect of a club that has given him everything. Absolutely everything,” Rodgers insisted after a friendly win over Valerenga here in Norway.

“There were no promises made - categorically none - and no promises broken. Obviously, the remarks I’ve read, it is bitterly disappointing - but my job is bigger than that. My job is to fight and protect the club.

“We have a standard at Liverpool and I will fight for my life to retain it. The Liverpool Way is all about being committed to the cause and fighting for the shirt. It’s also about dignity and being dignified in how you speak about the club. And it’s about unity.

“If anyone steps outside of those values then I have to deal with it.”

The Reds boss believes his controversial forward has now forfeited the right to train with the first team after showing such disdain for the squad, and such an apparent indifference to the needs of his team-mates.

There has been real anger within the squad in recent days, largely because of the unsettling effect the whole situation has had on the build up to the season, and the way Suarez has acted in training and even in pre-season matches.

The player hardly helped himself with his team-mates when he failed to show for Steven Gerrard’s testimonial dinner, and Rodgers explained that the Uruguayan will now have to show remorse to the rest of the players to find a way back.

“Is there a way back? We first of all need to assess where it’s at at this moment things have been said that are derogatory against the football club and his team-mates and the supporters,” he added.

“There’s a few bridges to cross before that can happen (play for LFC again). It’s about the respect, that’s the only thing we look for. This is one of the most iconic football clubs in the world, you can’t disrespect it.

“That’s something I will ensure before anything happens in the future. That bridge will need to be crossed.”

Henry and his fellow owner Tom Werner have backed Rodgers’ stance to the hilt, and privately they have indicated they are furious with the player... and determined to stop him forcing a move to Arsenal.

Liverpool are supremely confident there is no clause in his contract allowing him to leave - a view corroborated by PFA chief Gordon Taylor on Wednesday - and if Suarez is to be sold, then it will have to be to another club.

Rodgers though, insisted he has no need to sell, despite the player’s comments:

“The reality is we don’t want to sell Luis Suarez, it’s as simple as that. He is important for what we are trying to do. There have been a couple of offers but no promises broken - that’s the reality.

“I don’t believe there is a clause in his contract that says he can leave for any sort of price.

“I will deal with it.

“We can understand if he wants to play in the Champions League - but that doesn’t mean we’ve broken any promise.

“What we are trying to do now is get the correct value for a player, but we know we don’t have to sell him.”

Rodgers also dismissed suggestions Barcelona have made a bid for defender Daniel Agger, and the club insisted there have been no offers for the Dane from any team.

Bloody hell - just finished a 13 hr shift and come home to read these comments by Suarez.

Well done to Rodgers for sticking it to him - it's absolutely disrespectful and after the backing the club and fans gave him we didn't deserve that.
