Why did you feel despair when we sold Torres? £50m for a player that had become a disruptive influence, as recently confirmed by Jamie Carragher, was excellent business in my opinion. Nando had thrown his dummy out for reasons best known to himself and was never the same player after he returned from injury. His record at Chelsea has been poor to say the least. Chelseaa would be very lucky if they could sell him for between £15m and £20m. Chelsea have also paid him over £25m in wages since he joined. What Chelsea have lost on Torres makes Carroll look like a good deal by comparison.

Michael Owen is a mercenary but so are the majority of top class footballers. Can you actually blame them? Would you behave differently if you were in their position? I very much doubt it. Easy to say that we would behave impeccably but I'm afraid money normally has the loudest voice.Liverpool fkd up financially with Owen and McManamon and it is unrealistic to blame the players.Suarez has signed a contract and if he is sold we will reap the rewards. In his first full season Suarez struggled to hit the proverbial horses ar.se with a banjo. If we keep him will he go back to that or have another brilliant season. It's all a bit of a gamble with no guarantees. The only thing for certain is that Luis will do something fkg stupid again before he hangs up his boots!

I don't think Torres deal was that bad for Chelsea. What did they win after he joined? Only the Cl and the EL with him playing a part in both. A really nice "consolation" I'd say. What did we get?
Caroll who scored what 3-5 goals his only season then to be loaned out the next. I'd say Chelski are way happier.

You getting this news via smoke signals?  Suarez said that two days ago.   :p   That said, Suarez has been nothing less than a dlck through this whole thing.  Keep your mouth shut (obviously a bit difficult for him physically and mentally) and let the clubs along with your agent get things done either way behind closed doors.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

The way this is all developing we will all be burning Suarez shirts next month.

I'm just curious if he has a parting shot at us like Torres.

I was talking purely value for money. Chelsea did not need to spend £75m. Torres's contribution has been minimal since he joined Chelsea. Ask virtually any Chelsea supporter !!

Now Suarez goes I can only real silver lining rather the any dark cloud of losing a talented player

Lazza mate as far as Torres was concerned it wasn't hindsight. He had been playing poorly for a long time and we took full advantage of Abramovich's blind wallet. It didn't upset me at the time when we sold him.Jamie Carragher only recently stated that he had been a disruptive influence for 18 months.I have always been one of Torres's biggest fans. I have never turned on him and I never will regardless of Jamie's view which has to be respected. Nando like the rest of the team was let down with false promises by the utterly appalling H & G. His attitude was fkd up by H & G. His injuries haven't help. He simply isn't the player he used to be.

Torres was always a motivation based player, his confidence hinged on it. When H&G screwed the situation up, he rightly saw a black hole he wanted out from.

I don't buy the stance that he's a 'has been'. You only have to look at his last few months with us prior to being sold, as soon as he realised a transfer was on the cards his motivation sprung up a notch and the goals came back (remember the cracker against Chelsea). Chelsea the same, his confidence was knocked because the team didn't play a style that exploited his talents (FWIW If he stays at Chelsea, I can see him returning to form. Mourinho plays a counter-attacking style and this will suit Torres perfectly), notice that recently as Benitez returned - Torres' form began to return. Last night he had a great game against Italy.

For those reasons I would have him back.

I don't lose sleep worrying about whether Torres will return to form and prefer to keep it that way.

SCS - Take a close look at who Nando scored against under Rafa. It just isn't that impressive and his end of season league form was poor.

Madrids Callejon agrees to join Benitez at Napoli according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

I guess with Rodgers being interested in Callejon ,Madrid have lost a little of their bargaining power if indeed Suarez is wanted by Ancelotti .
I'm starting to think Madrid don't really see Luis as a top target.

i think madrid are just selling off their fringe players and deadwood to get a few bob in to help finance a new spending spree.
