FABIO BORINI- Official thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think Rodgers fell into the trap of being too quick to sign players he had
worked with before in Borini and Allen and at this point both look a bit
expensive at £25m the pair.

A lot do it, not just for football reasons but it also gives them a point of
reference on the training pitch to bounce off when they are settling into
a club themselves.

Borini was a suspect deal anyway with Roma buying the lad for around £6m
only to sell him weeks after for £10m to us so smell a rat there like. He has
moved several times in a short spell and you wonder if his agent is the real
player here rather than his client.

He must have something about him to get in Italy's euro squad though mustn't he ?

He is a Kuyt style hard worker, without any of the football intelligence and influence that Kuyt had at his best.
I'm not so sure he fits in the 433 system we shoehorn our players into either.

it was always going to be a big ask to expect a 21 year old from italy to start ripping up tree`s straight away, especially in a physical league like the prem.
i`m sure once he settles down and gets used to the pace of the game in this country we`ll see a lot more from him.

agreed but how long is that going to take.
i do rate the lad and think he is a clever player who makes good runs but he needs to sharpen it up a bit and start getting on the end of something. the position thing dont wash with me as its not like he is being asked to play R.B or anything.
given his injury did set him back id hope when his fitness picks up he will start turning in some good performances sooner rather than later.

Good players can do a job anywhere and you have to be flexible in the game today. Borini may come good but Rodgers has fired a few shots across the bow today and some of these lads need to start contributing. Excuses are wearing thin and we need performances with Borini very much in that bracket.

at 21 he`s still learning his trade and is nowhere near the finished article, we shouldnt expect him to be either.

Can't hear enough of that 21 nonsense. At this age a professional player should be able to display some skills..If he hasn't showed a glimpse so far he is probably not going to show in the future.

You don't need to keep playing this guy in every game to realise he is absolute rubbish! I can't think of another player over the last few years that has been as bad as Borini!

He has looked like a headless chook running around and NOT even looked like scoring. Easily Rodger's worst signing of the season and hopefully we can flog him off back to Italy at the end of the season.

Thats way too harsh. He's had a great early career and I'm confident now the team is starting to tick he'll pick up.

On the little I've seen of him he hasn't impressed me and I won't be holding my breath waiting for the day he does BUT to be fair the lad hasn't had a proper chance yet. The arrival of Sturridge has eased the pressure on our need for another striker to immediately perform, happy to see the lad given some more playing time before we rush to judgement.

I dont think it has helped him playing more in a wide role either to be honest.

Now Sturridge has come in I would be looking at bringing Borini on last 15 minutes in games in the central position of the three.
