I wouldn't get rid of him, not even on loan. We need depth in our squad guys!

I personally would have loaned out Henderson to Bolton and not Spearing.

Hendo hasn't done anything so far in a red shirt to warrant his fee.

Five January loan options for Liverpool's Jordan Henderson

Could Aston Villa, Fulham, Southampton, Wigan or even a return to Sunderland be on the cards for the unwanted Liverpool midfielder?

Jordan Henderson is yet to start a Premier League game for Liverpool this season. Just think about that for a moment, yes the player who cost £18 million a year ago, and this is with Lucas out injured.

In fact he has made just four substitute appearances, and found himself part of the second string, as evidenced last night as he featured against Anzhi with Joe Cole and a number of youth team players.

Just this week Henderson confirmed he was ushered towards the exit door on deadline day, as Liverpool desperately attempted to sign Clint Dempsey, only for him to refuse the loan move to Fulham.

"I worked really hard to come to a club like Liverpool and I didn't want to leave in a hurry. I want to stay at Liverpool for as long as I can. I want to keep fighting for my place and I told the manager that. I said I wanted to stay and keep fighting because I believe I can get into the team."

It's not happening for him so far, and he failed to impress last night, as this snapshot of supporter views displays via twitter:

@kraftykuts: Jordan Henderson should never wear a Liverpool shirt again #rubbish

@declanbickers: Jordan Henderson = liverpools worst signing

@oohmyliver: Jordan Henderson says he has no regrets about signing for lfc, unfortunately we fans have plenty of regrets.

@daviddownie17: Astounds me how people still rate Jordan Henderson. How many poor games does the lad need to have to convince he isn't good enough? #LFC

We could go on and on...

But Henderson has to consider the possibility of going out on loan in January to gain first team playing time. If he wants to make it at Liverpool and win over the fans, fair enough, time is on his side - he is only 22-years-old.

The most logical solution however is to go on loan and get back to playing regularly, and a little bit out of the spotlight. A change of scenery may well do him good for a short period and let him rebuild.

He has played just 78 minutes in total in the Premier League this season, and that is not good for his development, or his confidence.

So here are five potential loan options for him in January...

Aston Villa

Paul Lambert has struggled to revitalise Aston Villa since taking over, and central midfield is one area where they are lacking, with promising young talent Gary Gardner out injured for the season. Henderson could be a useful stop-gap, and playing for another British manager, in front of a big crowd, alongside a number of young English players can only be good for him.

Fulham

Fulham were of course the team Henderson could have gone to on loan in August, and he will have had plenty of time to ponder the switch. Central midfield is an area Fulham are short in after losing Moussa Dembele late in the summer, so much so they were forced to take a punt on ageing free agent Karagounis. Henderson on loan would help tide them over until the summer transfer window.

Southampton

Southampton are really in a relegation scrap, and while its fair to suggest if this would be the right thing for Henderson's confidence if they go down, giving him something to play for and aim for could spur him on, rather than signing for a mid-table side who will trail off as the season winds down. It allows him to become a hero, and the Saints attacking approach is not far removed from Brendan Rodgers' footballing philosophy.

Wigan

So Henderson could be managed by Roberto Martinez this season after all. Wigan have become a side keen to take advantage of the loan system in recent years, bringing in Cleverley from United a couple of seasons back, and Ryo Miyaichi from Arsenal this year. Martinez will have the respect of Liverpool's owners after keeping quiet on their interview, even if the same cannot be said of the conduct of chairman Dave Whelan.

Sunderland

Sunderland stand out as a strong choice for Henderson, because they are his former side where he made his name. He knows the club, the fans, and the surroundings, and could settle quickly and start enjoying his football again. It would be under Martin O'Neill rather than Steve Bruce, but many would say this would be a good thing for his football development, working with one of the most respected coaches in the game.

Which of the above would be the best fit for Henderson, and do you think he has a future at Liverpool long-term?

I am one of the fans who still thinks old Henderson has a future here. The guy came for big money which isnt his fault and when you have a midfield of Gerrard Lucas Allen and Sahin its hard to get into it.

A loan may help him out but only if brendan does see a future for him somehwere if not just sell him for whatever we can get Dont want another Aqualani situation

if he stopped misplacing passes, d!cking around on the ball, missing the target, losing possession and giving the ball away he'd still only be average.

move him on...

yeah gotta agree on moving him on.
he had a full season to bed in last year and it hasnt improved him in the slightest. the amount of football he's getting now isnt going to help him either.
get rid of him and cole to free up money for something else

We cant get rid of cole because of the wages he`s on. No one is willing to pay him anything like we do and he seems the type who is happy to sit in the stand and pic up his wage every week. He left chelsea because he wanted a higher wage than what was being offered, we were stupid enough to give him what he wanted.
Who would want him now anyway? We probably couldnt get rid of him on a free but we definitely need him off the books.
If sahin is likely to stay in the summer then i would maybe look to sell henderson, they`ll be takers around the 10m mark imo.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

Ive got no doubt theres a talented footballer hiding somewhere inside Henderson (oooeerr). Not a great, but possibly a good player.
However, he is his own worst enemy and I dont think he has the will or the power within him to break his own lack of confidence and inferiority. He has had long enough to show us what hes capable of, and I believe he has shown us. Some players just never click at a club, no matter how long they have and Henderson hasnt got what we want or need. He has been given the opportunity on enough occassions to shine but he is crippled by his feeling of inadequacy at being at a massive club and you cant teach someone to snap out of that. His performance last night showed us exactly what he is made of: insecurity, hesitancy, eagerness to please but chosing the wrong options, cowardice and low self esteem. He is crumbling right before our eyes and its not nice to watch. The kid is pitiful and should leave before he loses the last bit of belief and confidence he has and ends up a shell of a man who had "potential" but burned out because he couldnt handle the pressure.

I think the weight of expectations has gotten to Jordan, this club is just too big of a step up for him. He spent a few years in the Sunderland first team, where he was a big fish in a small pond and had no transfer fee hanging over his head. Then he comes here aged 20/21 with a huge £16m transfer fee hanging over his head, he then becomes a small fish in a great big pond with bigger fish swimming around and he has just struggled. He is shot of any confidence and he looks distinctly average here. He wasn't ready for this move and it really has shown. We'll be lucky to get a decent transfer fee for him in all honesty.

The most disappointing thing about Henderson is that he is a good player, he just isn't showing it here and clearly needs a move in order to revive his career which has stagnated here.

Out of all Kenny's British buys I thought Henderson would have had a chance at making it under Rodgers. I think Henderson has a good touch, engine and the ability to keep possession rather well. It's a shame that even with these merits his bollox appear to be the size of peanuts. It seems he isn't that highly regarded by Rodgers though but I'd personally have him as a squad player to call upon every now and then - we should know more than any other fan just how important depth within the squad is. Hopefully, in this time Henderson could stick his nuts in a grow bag and develop a pair to show Rodgers he's not just worthy of the exit door.

if rodgers wants rid then hes gone, Carroll and Adam proved that.

The lad can say he wants to stay until hes blue in the face it wont make any differance.

there one game he played at right back. i think he played good there, better than wisdom at the moment.
he has the attribute to become a good player but he needs to understand the game better.

We don't have to pay 18 million for a RB when we already have the England RB. I'm sure he'd make a good tea lady as well but its not what we bought him for.
