FABIO BORINI- Official thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If Borini keeps up the level of effort he put in last night then the goals will come. He, like many others, needs time to settle. He is also only 21 years old. He will com good. Not saying he will set the world on fire and turn out to be a 20 goal/season player but I think he can do a job for us and I am willing to give the lad a chance/time to show us what he can do.

his movement is still really good. the movement to drag two defenders away to create the space for shelvey's goal was exceptional if you watch it back. needs a goal badly though.

people who have already written him off (and yes there are some) are laughable. already becoming a scapegoat.

He may have good movement, but £11m I expected a lot more than just good movement. He needs to start scoring goals.

It's not as simple as that in a new team in a new country who are trying to implement a new style of play.  He hasn't had any service anyway. He would have had a tap in last night if Johnson had simply squared it to him.

He's not the first forward to have a slow start to their Liverpool career and he won't be the last.

i think the kid is doing great. hes helped players a few times  dragging defenders away  think shelvey has scored twice now because of it. And his engine is phenominal. I still feel he would of benifited more from carroll knock downs as he makes great runs. He just seems abit isolated up top on his own.

Hasn't even looked like scoring in his first hand full of games.

Rodgers needs to send a cracker up his a**e and demand he stops playing like a headless chook and gets into more dangerous positions more often.

Granted he has played out on the wing, he has spent large amounts of time not even being in the game and getting hold of the ball, which is a major conern in this pass, pass, pass game style we are trying to adopt. In a way is a main factor in why we have struggled to win games  :no

12 million on this bloke! You are kidding aren't you BR?!?

We could have got a much better player from South America for a fraction of the price we paid.

While i agree that hes been awful i have to call you on this "better player from South America for a fraction of the price " name 3.

Borini looks out of his depth, confused and dare i say it homesick? No joy in his play at all. Bren talks about Downing needing to fight and stand up well the same should be said to Borini.

Id have Carroll upfront over him any day of the week.

Borini looks out of depth because he has played s**t, in a style that is meant to suit him  :suspect:

I do watch a bit of South American football so I can only comment on what I know and read.

Napoli bought Eduardo Vargas on the cheap at 11 million pounds last year, I believe I read somewhere we were interested in him at some point but we couldn't get him. Real shame we didnt.

At the moment the following young players are being talked about:

* Juan Quintero (19yo recently joined Pescara after being tracked by Juventus and Inter)
* Nicolas Castillo (19yo who is starting to get rave reviews playing for Universidad Catolica in Chile)
* Federico Santander (21yo getting attention atm playing for Tigre in Argentina)
* Henrique Almeida (21yo who is starting to get a lot of interest from Europe playing at Sport Reife in Brazil)
* Phillippe Coutinho (20yo already signed for Inter but we had the chance to get him on loan earlier this year, from what I read)
* Facundo Ferreyra (21yo playing for Velez Sarsfield in Argentina, on the radar on most top European clubs)

How has he done 'great' sunshine? He hasn't created any chances in general game play and has come nowhere near to scoring a goal. In fact not including Gerrard, he has probably been the most disappointing player so far this season.

Have you heard of Patricio Rodriguez of Independiente? He's really good.

Yeah transferred to Santos a few months ago and getting lots of game time in Brasil.

Manure scouted him back last year but Independiente were asking stupid money for him (15 million +)

Oh. Didn't know that. I like him, he reminds me a lot of Narsingh.

He's hardly new to England and new to this style of play. He was brought in by Chelsea was he not? He has also had a loan spell with Swansea city. I'm going to give the fella time to settle in and time to adjust to new surroundings, hopefully he won't become a major disappointment, but I would like to see him getting amongst the goals as the season progresses. I don't think that is too much to ask, do you?

I think for now we should use him as an impact sub (only if needed, of course) in Premier League matches. I think he'll do well as an impact sub.

I agree with St Mike - the lad has been at the club for a matter of weeks and people writing him off is laughable. This guy has goals in him and given time (which he will get given our lack of options upfront) he will get the chance to prove he can be a success at LFC. Give the lad time and I am convinced he will do well. His movement and effort are superb.
