Nothing to be sorry about son. You were stitched up. YNWA

What a tool.

"NO WAY WAS I PULLING OUT OF A NOTHING CHALLANGE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARK WITH NOTHING TO GAIN FROM WINNING THE BALL OR LOSING IT"

What a stupid statment. He gave the ref a reason, if he had jumped it then he wouldnt have been sent off and man utd would have the ball in the middle of the pitch.

Players should be banned from twitter. Hes a kid who made a mistake that probably cost his team the match. I still think he could be the next Gerrard, with anyluck he learns from this.

Are you saying that he should have just pulled out a 50/50 challenge? Have you ever played football?? There was nothing in the challenge and Johnny Evans was every bit as guilty of doing whatever Shelvey got sent off for.

NO im saying he should have pulled out of that one.

Why would he pull out a 50/50? One of the first thing you learn as a kid is not to pull out of tackles, you only end up hurt.

Because it was a nasty 50 /50 with a chance of injury for no gain what so ever. If he won the ball, nothing happens utd defenders pick it up, he he loses the ball nothing happens utd midfield have the ball on the half way line.

The minute that ball broke you could see what was going to happen. No one would have thought any less if he had jumped the tackle, instead he dove in along with evans and got sent off, and was lucky not to end up hurt.

Rush of blood to the head.

But just about every 50/50 is like that! its about winning possession in the middle of the park and putting your team on the front foot. Evans got to the ball fractionally quicker than Jonjo, in fact they both ended up getting a touch on the ball there was so little in it. So was Evans wrong to go flaying into that challenge as well? Im not having a pop here btw, Im just curious to know your thought process behind this.

players who are prepared to lose those little battles all over the pitch tend to be the types of players who accept losing full stop.
i`d rather see what shelvey did today than watch the likes of meireles or downing sh*t out of tackles.
shelvey has gone right up in my estimation this afternoon.
he became a liverpool player today that lad.

Me too. If it's a 50/50 situation, chances are, most players would go for it and depending on the circumstances, a foul is rarely called. Today, we saw Evans having his studs on Shelvey and RVP with a 2-footed tackle on Suso, both of which went unpunished. And not forgetting our penalty claim, which was legit.

Anyway, Raven, what exactly are you trying to say? I don't get why Shelvey shouldn't have gone for it.

no one was average, infact until the sending off i cant remember a more one sided encounter between us and united (and i started watching us in the mid 70`s), we were absolutely magnificent today.
i actually dont mind losing games that much, losing games in football is like death and taxes in real life, it`s inevitable. no team wins every game they play, all i want is for the team to lose in the right manner, i want them to go down swinging.
today we went down swinging, even when we were down to 10 men we were arguably the better side.
whenever players lose a game they have 2 choices, they can scurry off the pitch with their tails between their legs or they can get carried off on their shields, today the lads went out on their shields.
proud of them today, they did the shirt justice

But what is a onesided encounter?
A game where it is 0-0 and one team has 70-30 in ball possession or a game where it is 4-0 and ball possession is 50-50?
We have so little penetration going forward so who cares if our midfield has the ball most of the time?
How many great saves did manures keeper make?

I personally think Rodgers is nurturing him really well and he's been awesome this seaon. He's gonna be a massive player for us, love the passion he showed today, there's no need to apologise, it was never a red today - 15 years ago everyone would have applauded challenges like that, it really is reaching fanny levels
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
