why should Jonjo apologise when this is the tackle HE got sent off for? Note Mark Halsey's positioning....

I got alotta sympathy and respect for Halsey, actually quite look forward to watchin his officiatin, but tday he screwed up
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

Hustler is being a bell end - rush of blood my @rse. The ref has sent him off because of the challenge two seconds before and the fact he got up unscathed and Evans was being a big puff. If Shelvey lay and Evans got up it would have been the other way around. Only one player went in two footed and he wasn't wearing red.
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Evans got to the ball fractionally quicker than Jonjo, in fact they both ended up getting a touch on the ball there was so little in it. So was Evans wrong to go flaying into that challenge as well? Im not having a pop here btw, Im just curious to know your thought process behind this.

Me too. If it's a 50/50 situation, chances are, most players would go for it and depending on the circumstances, a foul is rarely called. Today, we saw Evans having his studs on Shelvey and RVP with a 2-footed tackle on Suso, both of which went unpunished. And not forgetting our penalty claim, which was legit.

Anyway, Raven, what exactly are you trying to say? I don't get why Shelvey shouldn't have gone for it.

So you are quite happy to have him flying around like that every game? Hes lucky Evans didnt break his leg or he broke his own leg. OK maybe the ball was there to be won but at what cost?

NO i dont think he was right to jump in, nothing good was coming of that coming together, you could see it a mile off after the first tackle what was going to happen. PICK YOUR BATTLES is what im saying, but hes a kid he will learn from it a move on.

Im not so angry at getting sent off, im ***** about his "i dont care i wasnt pulling out of any tackle against utd" *****. He sounds like some sunday league player boasting in the bar after a game. By even saying that hes making a point that he might have pulled out a bit if it had been against anyone else. Foolish at best.

I rate him, for once i can see someone in our team that Might and i say might be able to fill Gerrards boots in a few years time.

The ref showed him a red card because he was a Liverpool player and Ferguson had told him before the match to ensure one of our players got sent off if it looked like Manure were struggling. It would be interesting to monitor the referees bank accounts to look out for any sudden deposits during the season!

It was never in a million years a red card and without it I firmly believe we would have won that match. Even beyond that red card almost every single decision went in Utd's favour, for exmaple why on earth did Evra not get at least a yellow for the tackle on Sterling on the edge of the penalty box?

The tackle was 50-50 as shown by the footage and images of the tackle. Both players went in with 2 feet, both players were off the ground whilst tackling, both players made contact with the ball before the player. Both tackles were equal, therefore both players should have been dealt with equally - regardless of the apprant injury to Evans. Football is not a non-contact sport.

If the referee deemed Shelvey's tackle to warrant a red card he should also have issued the same punishment to Evans. Inversely if he allowed the Evans tackle to stand he should have allowed the Shelvey tackle to stand.

Clear refereeing mistake.

You clearly dont understand the subtleties of football.
What he means is that a player who squeals when he gets tackled and rolls around like his legs just been snapped is far more likely to get the decision rather than someone who jumps up ready to continue. Its based on the understanding that the victim must be protected from the aggressive antagonist, who must be punished for his violent behaviour. It is embedded deep in the human psyche and united players know it (as does the purple nosed cu'nt), which is why they use it constantly to get the likes of Shelvey sent off.
Evans knew exactly what he was doing and had to go in for the ball, except he was wise enough to know that if he took the effeminate option (being a big puff) he would get the refs sympathy and therefore not get sent off himself. Is it a mere coincidence that sh'itty hole said before the match that they always receive red cards and never get penalties at Anfield?
Worked a treat dont you think?
???

By the way if I was a ref I would do the opposite and send YOU off for being a big puff

If you're going to ban tackles like that from being in football, I'll just watch Rugby Union instead - it's ridiculous that it was a sending off, in a game as prolific and as intense as Liverpool vs Man Utd there are always going to be some meaty challenges. Shelvey's tackle wasn't a dangerous one and I cannot fathom as to why he was dismissed for that. I have seen far worse challenges in the Premier League go unpunished. Evans is the fella going in two-footed, not Jonjo.

Glad to hear most of you saw it like I did, 50/50 tackle, Evans went in with two feet whereas Shelvey went in a bit harder but with just his one foot to win the ball.

Evans squealed like a little girl and the f*cking imcompetent ref pulls the red to give the mancs the advantage and ruin the game, if that's not enough he gives them every other decision as well.

Refs want respect but don't earn it, they make so many wrong and biassed decisions and if the decision is ever questioned that's wrong. I think refs should be made to explain their decisions and the reasons made public, it's the only way it's going to improve.
