Uneducated? I have 2 degrees, one of them a masters degree.  :buttrock

No original thoughts? They may be controversial, I'll give you that, but they are at least original, I'm not copying them from someone else, UNLEIK some posters.

going forward if we play 4-2-3-1 i'd like to see henderson and lucas as the two defensive players, with gerrard on the right and suarez on the left of andy carroll/new striker in a front three. we really need a decent attacking midfielder though. shelvey has promise but he's not ready to be a regular yet.

Why move our best two players out of there natural positions to accomodate inferior players? Suarez and Carroll seem to be on each others wavelength now, so i wouldnt mind seeing them paired together for a while, but 4-4-2 isnt workable in every match so a solution would be required. We still desperatly need a right winger and a central midfield playmaker as our midfield is severly lacking at the moment.

what is suarez's "natural position"? he's that good a player he doesn't really have one. probably as an orthodox number 10 ideally but we don't really play with one. he plays wide in a front three for uruguay.

we've had enough of gerrard dictating where he plays down the years. he's not been a central midfielder for years now whatever he might tell you. if wembley wasn't evidence of this i don't know what was. he'd be devastating on the right of a three though. best crosser of the ball we have and a genuine goal threat. he needs to be as close to suarez as possible.

as you said if we want to play 4-4-2 we need a right winger and we haven't had a proper one since pennent. as for the playmaker role, i've already said i'd go for sigurdsson. he's a class above anything we have.

even if we didnt sign anyone in the summer (but hopefully we do!) we could put together this type of formation with players actually at the club.

                                                                 reina
                   johnson                         skrtel         agger                   enrique

                                                      lucas           gerrard

                                                             aquilani

                                   sterling                carroll           suarez

i think 4-4-2 with carroll and suarez up front looks like our most effective formation but even now when people are questioning our squad we still have the  capablilty of putting a decent looking option to 4-4-2 together like that. or at least we will have next season when everyones fit (and back from loan).

Play a 4-3-3 next season with 1 addition to the side and i can see us going on leaps and bounds

                                                   Reina
Johnson                       Skrtel                      Agger       Enrique

                                               Lucas

                  Gerrard                               Henderson

  A.Johnson                                                    Suarez
                                    Carroll

A top central midfield signing is imperative.

i'm not going to get caught up in all the hyperbole about him "loving the club" after what's happened with players in the past but he owes us just a little bit of loyalty after the way the club stood by him this season.

He's damaged the reputation of our club by deliberately provoking cry baby Patrice, so he owes the club big-time, some clubs might have moved him on following the incident, but we stood behind our player and I believe Suarez will always be grateful for that. I don't believe he'll go anywhere in the summer, he'll report back to preseason and pick up where he left off this season, hopefully he'll convert more goals next term.

Where will that leave Gerrard if Lucas is assumed to be the first choice holding midfielder next season?

On the right or just behind suarez depending on how we play. With his injuries he is likely to miss a lot of games next season too.

No we need at least 3 new midfielders, and one more striker. FSG are going to have to give Kenny, or whoever is managing us come the summer, a lot of money if they want to get us back into the top 4.

We should sell Gerrard, he is over the hill now and holds the team back, same goes for Carragher.

Know what ? I actually do think SG is only going one way these days, and that's downhill....another op in the pipeline.....not good. I would have to say sell him too. Though I saw an interview with him on TV here and I don't think he's going anywhere....
