bascombe is a muppet.
might have a few truths in it but mostly with his spin on the end of it.
at journalist standard he is on a par with fozzy bear.

Some ***** posted on this thread, most of it by that ***** Bascombe, who can't take it that people didn't accept him writing for the Sunday S*n. f*ck right off.

And guess what? The supporters aren't f*cking stupid. We know it, alright. We know it's possible in this sugar-daddy world that Liverpool COULD slip into midtable obscurity. What do we do? Accept it or hope that it all clicks and we gradually make our way back to where we belong? We are better off than we were a couple of years ago - that is inarguable. We just have to hope it continues. Ridiculous article from a vindictive c*nt.

It's hard to disagree with anything that's written tbh!

He's spot on, over the past twenty years we have continually signed some god awful footballers, we've signed a lot of good ones, but our teams under Souness, Evans, Houllier and Rafa had some fantastic array of football talent from Jamie Redknapp to Sami Hyypia, to Xabi Alonso and so forth, but in the midst of that we've had some god awful footballers, Phil Babb, Igor Biscan, Phillip Degen, and now we have Charlie Adam etc.

We've never had a manager that has been able to consistently excel in the transfer market, I'd say Benitez was the best out of the lot, but even the wheels came off his bus towards the end of his managerial career when he allowed Alonso, Arbeloa and Hyypia to leave and replaced them with Aquilani, Johnson and Soto who are all good footballers, but aren't as good as their predecessors.

We've squandered hundreds of millions on poor players and this trend at the moment shows no signs of ending with Kenny Dalglish either. Our performance in the transfer market for the most part has been nothing short of embarrassing. Someone should conjure up a list of players signed since 1991 and have a read through it, I bet we've signed more average and below average players than we have signed above average ones and it's because of this that we've slipped down the pecking order over the past twenty years and unless we get a manager who can consistently excel in the transfer market and build a great team and maintain that level of greatness through new signings then we'll continue to struggle.

Under Kenny's managerial reign thus far we have spent £51m on future potential, £20m on an average winger, £22m on a fantastic second striker, £5-6m on a solid left back, £7m on a defender for the future in Coates and £7m on a Rangers reject. All in all it's been a mixed bag hasn't it? I'm pleased with the signings of Suarez, Enrique and Coates, but bitterly disappointed in the signings of Adam, Carroll, Downing and Henderson. All managers are going to make a hick up in the transfer market from time to time, Ferguson does, Wenger does, Mourinho does etc, but at Liverpool we seem to be better at it than most clubs and its got to stop.

A once respected journalist ,and now a small time hack who constantly has to vindicate his decision to keep the company of such embittered scribes .
Its sad really ,I can only imagine how hard it must be having to bite on your tongue and compromise your beliefs with such annoying regularity just to
appease your employers.

He clearly still has feelings for Liverpool ,I mean you don't spend as much time as chief sports writer for the Echo ,and not  feel some affection
for the fans and the City in general .

So in summary ,its no longer a shock when Bascombe directs his spiteful vitriol in our direction in order to consummate his marriage to the
great unwashed .

I suppose the lack of surprise is in fact the saddest indictment of how little credibility his words now carry for Liverpool fans .

Sad really  :(

Sensationalism.............................attention seeker.

Yeah there's a little bit of truth in there, but f*ck me the club has a goal and its rich history is something to be proud of, not relate it to an old desperate woman.

Hes bob on like but will be beaten down like a dog for writing in.

Lets remember that only the voice of Dalglish and his flock must be
heard and anyone that dare to challenge it will be destroyed.

All together now, place fingers firmly in ears and repeat after me "La la la la la la la la la".  :no

bascombe is 100% correct, although he is a  bit too gleeful for my liking. If we do not stop the rot soon then we will be in the same position as former great clubs, we will become midtable, and once you are there it is very hard to get out unless you get bought by an Arab e.g Man city. This is why next season is absolutely crucial for us and why we need new players and new management.

it could have been even more as well,in recent years we have lost another european cup final, a league cup final, a world club championship final, a european cup semi final and a uefa cup semi final.
between them abramovitch and the sheiks have thrown 2 billion quid (yes, billion) at their respective clubs over the past few years and they havent won one single european trophy, chelsea`s cup winners cup win was before abramovitch arrived at the club.
the league form hasnt been good enough over the past 20 years but bascombe is just talking *****.
oh and whilst he standing there marvelling at the greatness of the emirates and the etihad those 2 cathedrals of football have witnessed the grand total of 1 f.a cup and 1 charity shield win in their entire existance.

that `flock` as you call them are the real fans of this club, maybe they dont want to dance to the press`s tune like you obviously do, maybe those fans are prepared to give their manager time to build a side, they know rome wasnt built in a day just as united`s board knew 25 years ago, maybe those fans dont want to see the farce of a 4th manager in 3 years, and what happens if the new man struggles? lets face it benitez, hodgson and dalglish have struggled to get this squad performing consistently so chances are the new man would. what then? a 5th manager in 4 years?
how many change of managers have you called for in the past 3 years?

So are you saying we continue with kenny all the way, is he the only manager for us now, irrespective of results? At what point would you concede that it wasn't working, when we are in the relegation zone or perhaps when we are in the Vauxhall Conference, I'm just curious to gage how much your blind adulation of kenny exceeds your desire for the club to do well?

when kenny feels he cant take the club any further he will step aside, oh and by the way where ever this club ends up i will follow it. a few years in the conference wouldnt be a bad thing imo, certainly get rid of a few of the gloryhunters

Gloryhunters??? How can a fan of Liverpool be called a gloryhunter, surely a gloryhunter would follow Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea?
