Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

suarez posted this on his facebook page - "We lost and we are sad because we have made a big effort... Disappointed because everything is not that it seems..."

i wish some brave journo would actually give him a chance to give his version of events for the benefit of the general public. right now it seems he's about the most hated man in football.

Those who took a more sympathetic view of his treatment in that case will tend to be more understanding, and vice versa. If you took a more sympathetic view of his case, you have to ask whether you would shake the hand of a person you considered to have stitched you up in the way that Suarez believes he was by Evra. Otherwise, you are likely to think it outrageous, as the Manc's obviosly do as well as much of the media.

The alternative is to take the pragmatic view that irrespective of his guilt or innocence vis-a-vis the racism charge, it was better to avoid any further controversy by simply shaking his hand and getting on with the game in the spirit of moving on.

Personally, I'm not particularly a'rsed that he didn't shake Evra's hand but would have preferred that he did so as to avoid the media storm that has and will undoubtedly follow, for the sake of the club more than any one individual.

Agreed mate, I understand why Suarez did it, but I wanted him to shake his hands to avoid any problems and controversies and move on with playing football. Sadly, that didn't happen and now the media are, as usual, blowing things out of proportion slaying Suarez and the club. What makes me even more dissapointed that Kenny is getting castigated for sticking up in what he believes is right. I read Daniel Taylor's piece in the Guardian today, and he just slagged off Kenny and a long the lines  said that he should be more like Ferguson.

your right there and i wouldnt think many would.
i would stand by my principles their and its unfair that luis is asked or expected to go against his just to appease the media.
i dont blame luis or even evra here, for me the blame solely lies at the door of the fa who are guilty of double standards and making a complete :censored: up of this situation since the day it happened.

then someone has to stand in front of the media and state this. Say "This is not about racism, this is about a c*nt lieing about Suarez and we won't have that and will take this to court if need be"

But Andy why doesnt he just give his side of the story on twitter? It would get to the masses quicker than if he give an interview to a journo.

And Zara, we HAVE been tarnished through this whole thing, the general public believe (rightly or wrongly) that Suarez is guilty and as an extension of that we have been defending the indefensible. If we'd appealed the decision when we had the chance we may have been in a different position now but for whatever reason (read: the ownership was sick of the bad publicity) we choose to accept it and with that the die was cast and Suarez was labeled a racist by the British media and by proxy the general public also.

My disappointment with him not shaking his hand has nothing to do with the personal dispute between the two men in question FWIW. My issue was that if hed simply shook Evras hand we could finally start moving away form this whole debacle but Suarez had to put personal grudges before what was right for Liverpool football club and as a result we are about to be in the middle of another PR disaster.

Zarababe makes more sense. Burjenno I know what you're saying but it's not that simple. Suarez sees himself as being wronged (and I agree with him) And Evra is a pr!ck

DTguardian daniel taylor
Always supported fanzine network - still miss picking up my 'Brian' from Selectadisc - police over-reaction re Red Issue spoof today

on the KKK spoof that Mancs pulled out today, he thinks that its an overreaction by the police, after he wrote an article castigating Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez. Double standard?

i couldnt believe the club accepted the ban in the first place and at the start i thought they wouldnt.
they were persecuted into accepting it because they were being made to look like they condone racism by the media.
we should have pursued a case in the court of sport of arbitration to have them look at it and give their opinion as im sure they have experienced cases like this before and therefore would be in a much better position to make a judgement or indeed decide if there was any case to answer for.
instead we got the clueless bigots in the fa with their independent panel of gob$hites who with their 153 pages of circumstancial bollox ruled that suarez is but isnt a racist.

evra is a muppet and if someone racially abused me the last thing i would do is shake his hand.he showed at the end of the game exactly the type of person he is and fair play to luis for keeping his head down and walking on as im not so sure i would have done the same.

I'm glad he didn't shake the hand of the s**t that stitched him up... he should have missed out the t**t  that tweeted he should have been sent off the other night. All this shaking the hands then tweeting hours after a game being critical of players is a load of b*****ks....

Kenny should do what whiskey nose does best and refuse to speak to the press unless it's on his terms. If they want to talk about anything other than football then Kenny should send out the tea lady to do the interview..

the press and media have their agenda just give thenm no comment to work with from now on...

Finally I wouldn't shake the hand that stitched me up either...my only worry is Luis will say f**k this country and move to Spain in the summer...
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW AND TOMORROW IS JUST A DREAM AWAY.
