Adam stole the headlines because he scored a few penalties and free kicks.

i think that's a bit harsh. he was excellent for them in the games that i saw. however he was played in a system that got the best out of him and i don't feel he's done that here. not once have we played 4-3-3 like blackpool did whereby adam can be absolved of all defensive responsibility.

his set pieces have also regressed from what they were earlier in the season which was something he could always fall back on. gerrard and even bellamy are better dead ball options at the moment.

I've been critical of Adam's defensive play and his tackling this season but both were excellent today.  His best defensive performance by far.  Well done Charlie  :buttrock

When Charlie Adam came on against Utd we looked so positive going forward.  The improvement in the team was amazing.  I think it obviously helped that he had Bellers making lots of runs but CA's wilingness to get us on the front foot as soon as possible changed the game.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Two classy assists.

For Adam to perform it is vital we have a holding midfielder behind him as the defensive side of his game is not a strong point. When hes allowed to pick a pass he does so. Very good performance.

By all account a good game yesterday but the jury is still out on Charlie, far to many missed passes in general but he can deliver a hell of a ball into the box every now and then  :D

I heard he has 10+ assists this season.  Can anyone confirm the number?

Agreed. If nothing else, the presence of a holding midfielder means Adam shouldn't have to tackle as much.

I worry about Adam though. His passing is exquisite, but..i'm not sure he has that much else to his game. Or perhaps he does, and maybe it's that the poorer parts of his game usually spell disaster and so they stick out like sore thumbs.

According to the stats on ESPN he has had seven assists - six in the Premiership and one in the Scottish Nations.

Should be on the bench when Gerrard is back , he is still a liability in the middle of the park. Doesn't have the game intelligence, ability to control the middle. Spearing last night allowed him a bit more freedom but he tries too many hollywood balls and 9 times out of ten his desicion making while on the ball is poor. He needs to be in a team that allows him to have a total free role - he is good for back up role in our team but not as a starter.

He had his ups and downs yesterday but the lad can sure pass the ball. I think he now has 10 assists, Silva who is on top of the list has 11, which means Charlie is second.

He's very inconsistent but credit to him that he seems to be involved in a lot of goals.  Like I've said from the get go he has to be in a 3 man midfield to be successful.  Its a HUGE credit to Lucas that he could somehow manage games with only Adam alongside him earlier in the season.

Defensively there's huge question marks, offensively he does however have the ability to make some first rate passes BUT his decision making is a bit suspect, e.g. his ball to Kuyt for the third goal was one he played because he'd already allowed himself to run out of other/better options, he presented Kuyt with a narrow angle and a difficult finish, fortunately Dirk managed to slot it away.

Not wanting to slate the fella (I welcomed his signing) but he hasn't been as good as I thought/hoped he would be.
