very inconsistent player, not a top player by any means, decent squad player in the end.

He will improve in time though, with better players around him

Think he is struggling at this level tbh. He done ok at Blackpool but here more is expected of him and he is a bit limited. That said he did at 1 point outpace Arteta today. How I don't know but it was impressive.  :D

I think a lot of people are missing what he can offer to the team, he is OUR ASSIST LEADER THIS SEASON. He has 9 assists, more than any other Liverpool player, that has to count for something. I would love to see him play more advanced oppose to sitting deep.

He will improve, he just needs better players around him in midfield.

lost count of the amount of times he slipped over today.

Yes hes a gigantic downgrade on Alonso, and he almost certainly isnt good enough for a top 4 outfit, but he has a sweet left foot at times, plus we can easily recoup what we spent on him.

His assists does not make up for the huge number of misplaced passes and corners and his poor defensive qualities. Yes maybe he could do slightly better in an advanced role, but i'd rather see Gerrard there.

Spearing > Adam in midfield = a loss.  Its not hard to predict the eventual outcome when that particular combination has been used  ???
Another telling factor is Carraghers worrying recent trend for being caught leaden footed and woefully out of position .
Why Coates is not slowly being integrated into the back four is a complete mystery .Some glaring modifications need to be made
to the team ,not least a striker with no fear of failure who makes slotting the ball almost instinctive ....Step forward Adam Morgan.

I mean now that fourth is Arsenals to lose surely we can risk giving the fans  a tantalising glimpse of the future ?

completely agree. would like to see more of Adam Morgan and hopefully he, along with some other promising youngsters don't go the Nemeth or Pacheco route.

Carragher should be 4th choice tbh. at least Hyypia's excellent reading of the game made up for his lack of speed but Carra has a lack of speed and his reading is getting poorer.

An incredibly frustrating player at the best of times. He's got excellent passing range in the left foot and his assist record speaks for itself but too often I think he's simply wasteful possession. Sometimes that'll happen when he's going for the riskier passes, but it's the easy give-aways, like today, that do my head in. The ball he didn't play through to Henderson second-half was a good example of that. A simple offload to the right and he'd have been in, but he took the ball on in vain. Strikes a fairly decent ball it has to be said, but defensively, he lacks awareness and can't tackle for toffee, quite often by clumsily bring the player down. I don't think he's complete enough to be a nailed on first-teamer, but at his creative best he's a useful player to have in the squad.

Surely Coates was brought to Liverpool for an eventual prominent position in our defence ,but the brilliance of Agger >Skrtel this season has meant he has had to bide his time .

So the question remains why is Carragher being drafted in at
the expense of a player who albeit from a few schoolboy
errors has looked accomplished in his few brief appearances for the first team ?

As for Adam I think he should stick to keeping it simple rather than attempting to produce a 'Hollywood ball ' on every given opportunity ,and his tackling is at times really is Scholes like .

Liverpool are seriously lacking a competent ball winner to free space up for Adam to play his football without the distraction of defensive duties ,Lucas is a massive loss and a player of his ilk should have been purchased in the January transfer window

Did well enough in the first half today but faded again in the second half.

M.Diarra  :nod

Slipped out of everyone's radar except Fulham's, whom he joined for free.

I believe pride has come back to bite us in the arse on this occasion .

I mean every man and his proverbial dog knew a ball winning midfielder was an essential ingredient especially with the injury to Lucas ,yet the manager and the club clearly felt we could cope .

I think the importance of the role Lucas played in this team was once again seriously undermined ,especially given the
club believed Spearing was the player expected to fill that void

Madness plain and simple .

I must have watched a different game because I never saw Spearing nor Adam over run in midfield today. We bossed that game all over the pitch and central midfield was no different.

Yes, Adam loses possession and looks for personal glory too much but it was nice to see a central midfielder of ours actually looking to drive and play the ball forward. He hassled and harried the opposition and pressed them high. His decision making can be woeful - if he'd have just played Henderson through in the second half instead of thinking he's Diego Maradona then things may have been different.

Spearing was solid enough today as well.

I don't really see the problem with how these two performed in midfield against Arsenal. It was our finishing that let us down (like it has all season), and a couple of individual errors at the back - nothing else .
Champions of England 2020.

abysmal yet again. was expecting more from him when he first came to the club with his reputation with set pieces but sadly it's not been reproduced.
