It says something that I had to go on the next page to find this thread.
He is one of the most frustrating players I have ever seen in a red shirt

i dont think Downing is out of form, he hit the bar at least twice, force a good save out of joe hart from a tough angle volley.
he should at least got an assist untill carroll hit the bar from 3 yards few wks ago. he can take on players and play on either flanks.

If he knew how to finish!

Jesus, the bloke is always trying to break the net! He needs to control his shots rather than give it the old 'Roberto Carlos' every time he gets a sniff at goal.  :veryangry

No composure
That volley at the back stick. All he had to do was guide it in

Yet again I have had to go to page 2 to find the thread about Downing.
He is really getting on my nerves.
Am I the only one who thinks hes under-performing?

He is, and playing him on the right wing won't help. Though he had the most passes yesterday I think. He'll get in form I'm sure, but we should all remember that he's just an average player.

I agree with the playing right wing comment but I actually disagree that hes an average player. I think he is a good player who could be a very good player. But he needs to stop being a sh'ithouse and accepting medicre performances from himself. He does enough to be picked but goes missing too much in my opinion.

His end product has been terrible this season, guy really needs to step it up if he wants to be a big time player here. Its not like he dosnt see plenty of the ball. Versus Villa he got the ball as much as Suarez did, hes just so wasteful with it. His final ball, shooting and passing was way off and he dosnt deserve to be in the first team at the minute to be quite frank. Any one else worried that that our three most expensive signings have been some of our worst peformers this season?

Not too worried about Hendo, he is young and beginning to improve and looks a bit more confident in the CM role.

Starting to worry about Downing a bit, although on paper he does have talent and will hopefully find some form soon.

Very worried about the big man.

Was Johnson ever an option? and isn't he natural right winger? But Downing is a huge disappointment so far ,has one of the weakest mentality in the team ,personaly at his age and stage of his career should be ashamed of the performance he is giving ,he is hiding from the game instead of stepping up.
