Whatever the stats says, i am delighted on the business. Great job in getting a class defender for that price. Now Carroll would be over the moon...

same here but oh welll..the most glaring stat is the number of times he lost possession and his lack of aerial ability.

These stats are great fun but what the never account for is the team you play for and if Enrique can match players in better sides on the numbers then I guess that makes his efforts even more impressive. Left backs rely on team mates more than most with the centre half alongside and winger in front key people in their games and you would assume the other guys (maybe Baines apart) have better players assisting and Enrique will get that at Liverpool.

Good signing...

Would i get shot if i suggested we start Aurelio ahead of him until Aurelio gets injured...
Aurelio and Downing with their respective abilities can form one of the strongest left sides in the league with Aurelio's passing giving Downing the freedom to pick harder runs down the flank or towards the middle... The game against Valencia showed what they (as a partnership down the left) can do and I'd hate to see it limited to that game...

Theres every chance the same could happen with a Downing-Enrique partnership but I'm not Enrique is as technically gifted as Aurelio..

Regardless, good signing for a position we've struggled to fill in recent times... Hopefully he steps up and becomes a reliable member of the first team..

Welcome to Liverpool.

I thought Clichy made more than i defensive error last season, wasn't that one of the main critisms about, his errors.

stmichael wrote:I read somebody in another thread earlier saying how Enrique isn't as good as Baines, Cole, Evra blah blah blah. Well here's a few stats for you.

Stat attack of the lefbacks:

Crossing completion:

- Baines 28% (100 completed)
- Enrique 23% (31 completed)
- Cole 20% (20 completed)
- Evra 18% (17 completed)
- Clichy 17% (15 completed)

Tackling Completion:

- Enrique 84% (61 completed)
- Clichy 81% (111 completed)
- Evra 76% (80 completed)
- Baines 74% (84 completed)
- Cole 61% (100 completed)

Succesful dribbles:

- Enrique 65
- Evra 26
- Baines 26
- Clichy 21
- Cole 17

Pass Completion (%):

- Cole 86%
- Evra 80%
- Clichy 78%
- Enrique 75%
- Baines 72%

Gone past by opposition player:

- Cole 36
- Clichy 26
- Baines 24
- Evra 23
- Enrique 9

Looks pretty good to me. :talktothehand

It looks like he is much more solid defensively than the others. I always wanted Baines, but I knew he wasn't as strong a defender as others.  Enrique looks the best that actually defends, and still one of the betters at attacking.

Welcome to the club mate, glad to have you.  That looks a good bit of business considering Newcastle were saying £15 million for him earlier in the window.

I've always said Aurelio is one of the best LB's in the league.  His is technically gifted, a true Brazilian with the ball.  He has that natural talent, and he's very solid as a defender.  I fully expect him to start against Sunderland, but I imagine he will be subbed off and Kenny'll let Enrique get a good 20 minutes (unless Aurelio gets hurt earlier than that), especially considering it's Sunderland.

depends on what you see as an error. Every defender makes errors, surely that's the case for the oppo to score so I'm inlined to agree with you but like I said, its all subjective and down to interpretation

What Valencia game? have you forget the past years of Aurellio performance? His injury track record has become at some stage just pathetic ,and it's not the players fault it's the manager fault for keeping a chronic injured player in the team. As to his natural abilites oh well....LB should be able to support the attack and track back just as quickly - Aurellio has never had speed and i really can't understand this wave of discovered admiration of the Guy.

Enrique as far as i remember has the pace and speed to give us more attacking options and at least just as well defending. Really no contest.

One thing my brother said is that teams completed avoided attacking down the left when Enrique was there because their opposite side was much weaker.  Clubs tended to line up stronger down Enrique's side to deal with his speed.

He's very quick and very strong.  Apparently not great in the air, but that's more of the CB's job then the full back.  He's good getting up the line and he's great at getting back.  With a team like ours compared to Newcastle's, he'll be able to use the speed to get way more involved in the offensive aspect than at Newcastle.
