Just to let you know the reason Ngog didnt go was down to the difference between the two clubs valuation of the player - nothing to do with Ngog turning them down - all parties are still keen to get the deal done with Ngog already happy with personal terms - just need to sort out the fee .

Exactly. Ngog was brought in at 20 as an early prospect but regrettably it hasn't worked out.

first thing first, our valuation of Ngog at 7m is out of the world.
fair value is around 3m to 4m,
that fellow did not do much but he did his best, so credit to him,
he should not be force to go to a club tat he do not feel comfortable with.

we paid 16m cash for Henderson, regardless of where Ngog go next,
the sale proceeds will still be use to offset the purchase.

David Ngog could be a £3 million bargain

LIVERPOOL have put a valuation of £3million on the head of surplus striker David Ngog. The French forward’s future remains up in the air at Anfield after the Reds made it clear privately that they were happy for Sunderland to talk to him.

But if he does not leave for Wearside in the next few days, it seems certain that manager Kenny Dalglish will move to offload the French Under-21 international forward before the new season begins.

Dalglish is looking to completely reshape his squad, returning them to their traditional basis of success – which was acquiring the best of Britain’s home-grown talent and supplementing that with proven stars from abroad.

The £20m move for Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson is part of that process and Ngog is already regarded on Merseyside as a relic of former manager Rafael Benitez’s failed policy of bringing in a host of potential stars from abroad who struggled to justify the hype which proceed their signatures.

Ngog though – while falling short of the quality needed for an aspiring top-four outfit – is not someone who should be written off too quickly in terms of his ability.

At 22, he is young enough to improve and combines both pace and power – being well over 6ft tall and lightning quick. His goals record for club and for country is not overly impressive, but most of his time at Liverpool has been spent as an impact player coming off the bench.

And while he might be given that role at whatever club he subsequently joins, there’s an argument that the best of him will only be seen if he moves away from Anfield and gets the chance of a regular starting place in his new side. Certainly, he might prove to be a decent foil for Asamoah Gyan, who Sunderland boss Steve Bruce noted last season might benefit from a tall and physical striker to play alongside him.

Sunderland are in pole position when it comes to signing the forward, having already been involved in talks with Liverpool over the Henderson deal and having been made aware that the Ngog move could be tied in with it if that suited the Black Cats.

Reports of a £6m, £7m or even £8m valuation for the striker would have made it a no-go for Sunderland, but £3m is a reasonable fee given Ngog’s pedigree and experience.

While the completion of the Henderson deal is expected to be announced in the next 24 hours though, the Ngog talks could well drag on into the weekend and beyond.

I have to disagree. If that were the case, wouldn't we have not agreed on the transfer in the first place? Is your post a question of FSG's intent?

so is this part of the henderson deal or not?

seems a weird signing considering they've essentially recouped over £40m for bent and henderson in the past six months. surely they would have gone for someone better?

i think it's separate. Henderson's deal has been completed. Ngogs deal looks to be on but could still fall through, but either way we've completed the henderson deal.

My conspiracy theory is that Ngog was touted to them, which they liked, but Ngog wasn't overly enthusiastic about it and asked for a bit more time. We desperately wanted to seal the deal with Hendo so pushed it through as a separate deal. Ngog then had more time to consider the deal (or got his agent to ask a few french clubs abou t a move) but is okay with moving to S'land now, so it's back on.

Agreed i would be woried if i was a Sundeland fan at the moment.
Gyan is being linked with a move today as well.

Ngog's mulling it over and any other possibilities.. he could be the make weight or Liverpool pay the cash.. add ons with appearances etc..

Henderson passed his medical at the Anfield club on Wednesday, allowing his transfer to be completed and mark one of the first major Premier League acquisitions of the summer.

Ngog, who was signed by the Reds from Paris Saint Germain under Rafa Benitez in 2008, is set to put pen to paper this week after coming back from holiday.
