Peter Beardsley, Gary McAllister, John Wark. IMO, all 3 did a fanstastic job at Liverpool FC.

errrrrr...Fowler is nicknamed GOD..i think that the highest recognition one can get.

for me, most memorable is Gary Mac, correct me if i am wrong, his 40-yard free kick goal against everton sent us to the champs league of the first time.

then of coz there's Dudek amazing saves in Istanbul.
Alonso, Finnan, Rissle, Kuyt are all unsung heroes.

Smicer, Biscan, Henchoz, Westerveld, Baros, etc all became cult heroes because they were pretty average but managed to provide a goal here and there in crucial games.

The true unsung heroes are the likes of Hamann, Hyypia, Finnan, Riise, Garcia, etc all who got missed by the press and general public but made a deep impression on our lives whilst playing for Liverpool.

What about Phil Neal? I know he was disappointed in the club when no after-career position became available, but he was the one of the rocks in the side at the time and made 455 appearances (thanx Wiki

). Anyone watched "60 minutes with..." on LFCTV? Phil comes across as a fantastic character from that era.

i feel so bad and jealous looking at you all and see you talk about 'when i was groing up'.. well, when I was growing up we were winning uefa cup against alaves, one of the few games I remember.

Terry Mcdermott was a cracking player that and never really got the headlines. Technically he was gifted, a real touch player and a master of chipping the ball. If you had to pick a team for him today it would be Arsenal, pushing the ball around the park and that. Always in the shadows of Dagger and Souness, the big time guys, Terry Mac didnt get the recgnition but he was the Fabregas of his day, terrific footballer and a local lad. I doubt there has been a more European type footballer on English soil than him in his pomp, superb he was.

whoever said Ray Houghton, that was a top shout for me.
Great player in that late 90's side.
Scored some great diving headers.
I also think Aldo is a little bit unsung for me.
