That's definitely true so in these times it's hard to justify a new ground.
Better to re-develop Anfield and strengthen the squad, I am just not sure how much scope we have to increase the capacity by a significant amount.

As for attendance everyone is suffering not just us.

I don't think it's just down to the cost of a new stadium being too high. More to do with how much it makes sense the added revenue would provide over that cost. In truth. Not much sense. At a capacity of 60,000 even if the average profit per seat was say, 50 pounds, that would only increase yearly revenue by 1 million per home game.

With the most home games (including cup runs to the finals of CL, CC and FA) about 31. A new stadium would cost around what? 600million? So you are looking at about 600 games for the club to make it back. Longer if current events in the cups remains unimproved.

Not to mention that a part (how big I am not sure, but it is a good excuse) the atmosphere of Anfield and what is the price you put on possibly losing that?

I like the part in the letter where FSG talks about increasing global revenues. There is far more money to be made for the club in TV and merchandise than there is by increasing stadium capacity. FSG knows this through it's experience with the Red Sox.

One of he most important aspect of this club (financially) is to increase our global revenue in order to invest more in players once the Fair play rule comes into effect. I don't think NESV/FSG will build a new stadium unless there is a high demand on tickets to cover the cost of building the stadium in the long run. This season we have seen really low attendances because of what is happening on the pitch. If they do indeed redevelop anfield and maximize the capacity to 60k or 65k, then a good way to at least increase demand is lower the prices about 15-20 % of the value we have.

a tabled bid to ajax of £12.8mil for suarez which was made 12-14 days ago.rejected straight away and told the price was £23mil.despite comoli flying out to amsterdam to negociate he returned empty handed and ajax released a statement issuing a deadline to meet there original valulation or the deal wasnt happening.
another bid put to blackpool for charlie adam for £4mil.again rejected and told to put another 1 in front of that figure.
at some stage on thursday they recieved a request for a transfer from a wannabe rentboy.on thursday evening they released a statement confirming he wanted out.
that was about it up till that point.
on friday we moved quickly to tie up suarez and went from the 12 originally offered straight to the 23 asking price.
rumoured to have upped the bid from 4 to in the region of 6 for adam.
it became obvious over the weekend rentboy was going to become exactly that and would never wear the red again.
monday morning and we came out fighting with a 30mil bid for carroll which was turned down instantly only to return a few hours later with an improved bid of 35-36 which was accepted.
other than that we made a last ditch bid for micah richards with no success and an apparent phonecall from j henry to r lerner with an enquiry about ashley young but not backed up with a bid.no further bid to blackpool for adam and the transfer window shut leaving us with the signings of suarez and carroll.

while i am happy with the signings we made and they will be great for the club i cant help but think if torres hadnt of being going they were in no circumstances gonna flash the cash during this window despite saying that the readys were available.
what we got was the wage bill lowered by the players who went on loan and 56mil in player sales leaving us with a net spend of some where between 2-5 mil which will be even further reduced by the savings in wages and could turn into profit come june.

so it seems that weve coasted through another window with little investment and imo we wont be splashing big like that again unless its offset against another asset.
in fairness to fsg after 6mths we cant say that they are great or bad, just better than what we had.

Thats why we cant get carried away, as pleased as we all are about how theyve handled things since they took over. If Torres didnt hand in a transfer request then maybe NESV would of just continued to make pathetic bids on Suarez etc. As it stands with players in and out they probally spent next to no money (i dont believe we offered 30 million fo Young coz theres no way Villa would of turned that down)

So we should wait and see what happens in the summer before heaping to much praise on them yet.

Yes I agree - lets just heap mud on them, sprinkled with a bit of scouse and pour some water on it.. nevver know it might grow in to a money tree - then we can praise the tree for growing the money - that will yield the coffers to pay for the summeer buys

We were in foir suarez, and willing to pay more - LIverpool strted bidding at 15 m and Ajax sarted at 30m.. we nmet them in the sort of middle - it's called negotiating.

The owners reinvested the money to buy Carroll - no beating round the bush there - straigt in at 30m...

BTW they also bought the club for the small amout of 300m pounds, just in case you forgot.

No debts are being serviced, engagement with fans is taking place and king kenny is at the helm..

.. and the king says theu have been 'fantastic' I trust him he trusts them and .. you know what a bit of faith won't go a miss from some of you -

Apologies for trhe 'who are you' bit of jib.. I was wrong and each is entitled to their own opinion.

It's been a year of doubting,mistrust and so much more, first with H&G then Hodgson and now Torres, dong the dirty 3 days befor the window.

I wanna say that we should have some faith - despite all the above, becasue a real liverpool man is in charge - H&G didn't give it to kenny cos they didn't wanna man who would fight for this club.. and he will do that and Rafa did too, by exposing their lies.

Kenny has gone to lenghths to priase the owners and we must trust his judegemnt, as they have trusted his. Carroll at 30m, could you imagine it? Suarez 23+m same.

Lets enjoy and trust too - their is no quick buck to be made as the previous showers thought - these are sports people and very succesful at it too - there a different all together and I for one salute them ,, and I too have criticised what appeared to be poor decisiveness over getting rid of Hodsonb, not their committment, rather their judgement at the time..

I also trust NESV but for the same reasons you just mentioned im also refusing to be 100% behind them until i see what happens over the next few years not just 6 months.

Agree with u on the reasoning for Kenny not being appointed in the summer, thats why i will always love Rafa even though he lost the plot abit in the last year as he fought them tooth and nail.

Glad we could put this little spat behind us. Quick and effective like NESV :cool:

They [Newcastle] made a hell of a deal. We felt the same way."

I haven't made any desicions for or against the owners so far.

Wheter people like or not this transfer window activity was all made possible thanks to Rafa's fantastic buy of a world class player for 20 million. We all knew Torres was worth twice what Rafa paid for him 1 season after we bought him.

The true test is this summer.
Unless I see some spending that comes from the owners themselves and nor from selling Reina or someone else I will be very dissapointed and worries for the future.

We are going to have many holes to fill and with no money coming from them so far I fully expect 30-40 million made availble for players, without selling. For a team that has had no investment for years we need a real injection of cash into the team without selling our best players all the time.

Agreed. I doubt he will be that concerned though. He knows what all the fans went through during the H&G era so naturally they would be keen to ensure the same doesn't happen again.

Im happy with what they have done so far but the re development of Anfield is a big thing so im keen to see how quickly we progress with that.
One that note id rather we get our squad up to a title challenging standard first before thinking of doing any stadium redevelopment.

yes we want the team to challenge but the extra revenue from moving or developing the ground is what will make that possible, i fully expect the new owners to put in some cash in the summer but i doubt it will be anything along the lines of whats going on at city, the stadium issue has gone on now for over 10 years and in that time we`ve just about been able to stick it out, spurs are looking to move or build so how much longer are we going to sit back and watch yet another club move ahead of us.

a decision needs to be made soon as plans will have to drawn up and permission granted, from what ive read the council are against redevelopment as the original move to the park was the catalyst for the regeneration of that part of Anfield, getting the go ahead from the council will not be easy unless the new plans also include the surrounding area.
