Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I hope they do go with renovating Anfield rather than a move. Like they said, Anfield is a beautiful place with so much history, if we can improve Anfield rather than move to a new stadium, I can only see that as one big positive. Also i hope they move soon to renovate it. These things take time so the sooner we start the better.

a decision needs to be made soon as plans will have to drawn up and permission granted, from what ive read the council are against redevelopment as the original move to the park was the catalyst for the regeneration of that part of Anfield, getting the go ahead from the council will not be easy unless the new plans also include the surrounding area.

Head meet nail.

I believe the stadium plans, redevelopment or relocation is absolutely vital for us to ever go back to the summit.

My firm belief is that long term the owners will not inject cash from the outside and will let us operate on the profits we make and spend it as the club see fit.

And that is just the thing, the revenue from the Stadium will be very important as it will be one of the most important, if not most important way to increase profits which the club can spend.

As it is now we generate much less income than many of our other rivals due to a big part that our stadium right now is smaller.

And the team now if pretty far from challenging which makes it harder to get there without doing anything with the stadium plans.

Success for this club will be very hard if those plans are put on the backburner.

But these were questions sent from a solicitor. Why?

On christmas eve, from Liverpool supporters, to our new owners they recieve a letter from the SOS solicitors. Why?

Could they not ask the new owners the questions from themself? or were they ignored hence the need for a solicitor to ask them?

Its arrogance at its best.

This solicitor bit has been taken out of context, Graham Smith is the solicitor he just happens to be the bloke who runs SOS nothing to do with his job really.

Anyway we have been battered, bruised, bullied, and now we feel bitter because of you know who  :glare:

But I have no fight left in me, what happened with Twit & Tw@t totally drained most of us, football was no longer an enjoyment, LFC made me very angry, upset and p!ssed off with the things they where doing.

Its over now hopefully and I just want to get back to being happy again, and enjoying my club & the football once again.

I am a member of SOS but they should leave things the way they are at this moment in time we need everyone pulling in the same direction, if these yanks turn out to be like the last ones we will find out about it and the banners & protests will return, but for now we need the club moving forward with EVERYONE on board EVERYONE.

John Henry seems like a decent fella, so far they brought Kenny in, spent the transfer money on players instead of debt, and they want to stay at Anfield.

Time will tell if they are the real deal or not, but for now we just need to get behind the team and kenny and try get into that CL no seprate entities the club needs to be back to where it once was.

that's a good post Cig and I think it kinda echoes what the majority of reds are feeling. It's just nice to have a bit of optimism about the place again after a torris 18 months. Even Fernando going hasn't dampened too much.

On the subject of the ground it does sound like the owners are edging towards redevelopment of Anfield which was always my first choice BUT the area is in such dire need of redevelopment it would be a shame if that does not happen. It's never been the best part of town but the difference over even the last 3-4 years is very noticeable. I know it was looked into before but what stopped previous management trying to redevelop Anfield? I'm guessing they would need to buy up a chunk of the surrounding houses and that that was prohibitive? If we were to go in that direction I would imagine they would need to find room for another 15,000 seats at least.

I think we are doing a huge misstake by trying to rebuild Anfield.:(

All though i agree that they should be given time and stand off a bit to lets see what they do, Yes at the moment im made up with what they have done so far no complaints ,no problem no worries from me ,, but i also think that they should know that we are still there as fans wanting to protect and have done what is right for our club. John Henry has done nothing or say so far to make me think that he wants what we want and that is for what is best for this club, But what do people expect SOS to do , well youve got rid of them two yous can do one now . your not needed anymore ,
We as fans should always hold whoever is custodians of this club to task, and if god forbid somewere down the line in a couple of years you never knowwhat will happen, then even Mr Henry should be reminded .

As i said the other day i am loving John Henry ,he has done all the right things so far , but its also still very early in his tennure
An the best bit is of it all is we are all back to talking football , were all singing from the same sheet,

Good post Nan well said Girl

I'm also struggling to see how S.O.S have been deemed by some posters as  stepping over the mark here ,surely its now considered an essential part of any business to make legitimate requests and then submit them through a solicitor ,that way it will ensure the promises we have heard  from the new owners actually come to fruition rather than turn into shattered dreams ..... I mean don't get me wrong I like the new owners and they seem like decent people.... but will I ever trust them after who they preceded and the nightmare we had to endure ......simple answer NO .....you see when you get burned as badly as we did its hard trusting someone to the extent of leaving them to their own devices ..... and for that reason alone I am heartened by the fact  S.O.S are sleeping with one eye open ,and leaving nothing to chance any more ...... Everything by the book no more gentlemen's agreements ,no more false dawns ,no more broken promises

The new owners will not make any promises they have seen from the previous ones not to go down that route.

This new fans forum I am not actually @rsed about it, but theres a cracking girl on it Shanks grandaughter she will look after us, so will the King.

If things go the way as they did under Twit & Tw@t well Ill be there again, but for now Im tired, very tired of it all. And just want to enjoy football and our club again.

I dont know whether its stepping over the mark or simply going the wrong way about it. It seems rather formal and long winded. I would have thought this letter would be further down the road after relationships had been formed and trust was established.
It looks to me like SOS are flexing their muscles and letting the owners know staright away theyre not to be messed with
It was like a statement of intent and could be looked on as heavy handed...
