That’s been mentioned by a couple of people now.  Does it matter? For what it’s worth the plan was to keep torres  and if blackpool didn’t have a t0sser for a chairman buy Adam as well.

Our owners were comfortably going to spend £23 on Suarez, £8m on Adam and £??m on Young if deals could be reached.

It’s not the owners fault Torres wanted out can gave our income sheet £50m. (£35m of that then went on Carroll), but that wasn’t the plan!

I think theyve done well. I really expected us to get screwed over the Torres deal but we got the full 50m. Even though he was desperate (top european club, dont make me laugh - 5 times v 0 times) to go there. Carroll was overpriced but at least they did that. Im still a bit bitter but could be worse. So far NESV havent put a foot wrong for me hope it continues.

Well we surely can't question their effort and desire. Well played I say in showing ambition. Hopefully the two massive signings turn out to be worth the money.

Postby red till i die!! » Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:00 am

firstly i take my hat off to fsg for handling things the way they have done in the last few days of january.
kept things behind closed doors, stood firm with fernantoerag, didnt budge below the asking price and sent out a strong vibe that they mean business.all positive and well conducted.

i cant help but wonder what would have happened though if there hand wasnt forced by fernantoerag?.
untill last wedensday we didnt look to be doing much activity except.
a tabled bid to ajax of £12.8mil for suarez which was made 12-14 days ago.rejected straight away and told the price was £23mil.despite comoli flying out to amsterdam to negociate he returned empty handed and ajax released a statement issuing a deadline to meet there original valulation or the deal wasnt happening.
another bid put to blackpool for charlie adam for £4mil.again rejected and told to put another 1 in front of that figure.
at some stage on thursday they recieved a request for a transfer from a wannabe rentboy.on thursday evening they released a statement confirming he wanted out.
that was about it up till that point.
on friday we moved quickly to tie up suarez and went from the 12 originally offered straight to the 23 asking price.
rumoured to have upped the bid from 4 to in the region of 6 for adam.
it became obvious over the weekend rentboy was going to become exactly that and would never wear the red again.
monday morning and we came out fighting with a 30mil bid for carroll which was turned down instantly only to return a few hours later with an improved bid of 35-36 which was accepted.
other than that we made a last ditch bid for micah richards with no success and an apparent phonecall from j henry to r lerner with an enquiry about ashley young but not backed up with a bid.no further bid to blackpool for adam and the transfer window shut leaving us with  the signings of suarez and carroll.

while i am happy with the signings we made and they will be great for the club i cant help but think if torres hadnt of being going they were in no circumstances gonna flash the cash during this window despite saying that the readys were available.
what we got was the wage bill lowered by the players who went on loan and 56mil in player sales leaving us with a net spend of some where between 2-5 mil which will be even further reduced by the savings in wages and could turn into profit come june.

so it seems that weve coasted through another window with little investment and imo we wont be splashing big like that again unless its offset against another asset.
in fairness to fsg after 6mths we cant say that they are great or bad, just better than what we had.

Tom Werner was in the supporters club before the match, said we tried to sign Young for 30 million and plenty of money available in the summer  :buttrock

Swerve Ashley Young for 30 million though !!!!!

I'm absolutely loving the LFC of today. Torres wanted out, so get out, we'll even pack your bags for ya pal. Even held out for what we wanted and got it. Then all of our transfer activity was done on the quiet. No talking about it in conferences nothing. Other clubs couldnt keep their mouths shut about it though cough*halloway*cough

Hats off to these guys for making it happen. Also if we are going to get a new manager, whenever that may be, can we get someone to wrk beside Kenny so they understand the traditions and what it means to be a red. I want that system restored at LFC, the bootroom

I watched some of the Manure Villa game and Young looked completely disinterested.  He thought he would be wearing red by now and wasn't anywhere near his best.

Just listened to John Henry's latest interview on Fox Sports.

They are delighted with Kenny and reading between the lines I think before long he will be appointed as permanent manager.
All but confirmed that we WILL NOT be moving from Anfield and instead redeveloping the great place.

Both of the above points delight me but the only concern would be how big can they make Anfield. We need to be upwards of 60k minimum IMO.

Things are looking really positive right now.

1.  NESV willing to invest in players in the summer
2.  Kenny nailed on for full time job
3.  Team playing attractive attacking football
4.  Results massively improved
5.  NESV keen to redevelop Anfield

We are definitely a club on the up, and whilst things are positive, I'm really trying not to think where we might have been had Kenny got the job in the summer.

Just how much damage has Roy done....or rather than Roy personally, the appointment of Roy.

Anyway, we can't change that now.  Let's look forwards to what looks like a bright future.

Other teams have their own challenges -

Manure

1.  Massive debt
2.  Some big figures need to be replaced in the next 2 years (Ferguson, Scholes, Giggs, Neville, VDS)
3.  They are not the force they once were.  Sure they are top of the league, and still look nailed on for the league, mainly due to the other sides dropping points.

Chelsea

1.  I would bet Ancelotti goes in the summer
2.  Torres will mean the exit of one of either Drogba/Anelka, or some big sulks.
3.  Roman is obsessed with the CL, and is doing some strange stuff to get it
4.  Nearly all their first team players are the wrong side of 30, and a major rebuild is required.

It's a funny old game. :p
