Kenny was like a breath of fresh air today

I hope he will be our manager now until he decides to retire, however.....

What if Kenny dosent do the job we need. I have no doubt that he can do it but we will have to wait and see. He is a messiah at the club and rightly so. He has united the fans that have been split for the last 2 years and has lifted the gloom from the club but that in itself will not be enough.

If its a case that he is only here until the end of the season, then what? Do the owners what to get someone in? Judging my Kennys interview before the game he is delighted to be back managing Liverpool and I dont see him giving it up to easily. In his eyes and the fans (myself included) he is back where he belongs. If things start to pick up and we start getting a few results then come the summer will he be offered a long term deal? What if no matter how well he does the owners have decided that a new man is coming in in the summer.

Take the scenario that Kenny has an okay second half to the season, we finish 7th in the league and we scrap into the UEFA cup. Then the owners, as was agreed with Kenny when he took the job, bring in a new man on a long term deal. Kenny is out the door and is thanked for his contribution.

And then what?

Well then we are back to the same situation we were in last week, were the new manager will not stand a chance as he will not be welcomed to warmly into the job and at the first sign of a slip up there will be call for Dalglish from the Kop. We are back to civil war and again a cloud will lie over the club. With all this happening it will be hard to move forward and we could easily start taking steps back in the wrong direction.

Because its Dalglish and because of what it means to the fans NESV need to come out early and stress that this is only until the end of the season or that there is a chance this will be longterm. The quicker we as fans are aware of this then the more time we will have to come to terms with it, as hard as it might be come the summer. If they dont I can see Kenny building up more and more of a bond with the fans that at the end of the season if broken by the owners could cause all types of trouble.

I think it all depends on the quality of the next manager. I believe NESV will appoint a young manager with fresh ideas its thier way. I believe most fans will accept this. It all depends on Dalglishs results aswell if he steadys the ship but does nothing spectacular then it will be easy for the new manager. I dont believe the next manager wont have the full support of the supporters anyway, alot of people talked :censored:

about Hodgson not having support from the get go. He did, he just lost it very quickly when it became apparent that he was a shame of a manager and he showed no passion on the sidelines. The supporters have had 2 much stick over how Hodgson was treated for me, all this "best supporters in the world are we" Yes we are the best supporters in the world and weve always stuck with our managers but if you drag our club into a relegation battle, accept draws against inferior teams, have no ambition to win away and have the team playing the worse football in anyones living memory, and blame everyone but you...............then your gonna be told on your bike mate.

From Kenny's comments so far I suspect that if he does a decent job he will carry on. For me, that would be ideal, and allow him to develop a new bootroom with the likes of Carra brought through.

It is in Kenny's hands I think. If we are doing well he stays.

For me, well means a good run in Europe and a top 6 finish (from where we are now).

If he gets us top 4 he should be kinghted and handed the keys to the stadium and city.

However, if Kenny comes in and says that he was just doing this for the short term and help the club, then the fans would understand. I believe we need a long term manager, a manager who is young and capable of managing Liverpool. Whoever the NESV appoint they have my support

very happy you opend this thread mate, i was going to but just knew i would get stick for it.....but my fear is this.

Kenny gets us to a safe 7th or 6th place by the end of the season.

Kenny is ready to leave....but the fans dont wish him to go

the next manager comes in and will get stick from fans from day one...why.....well easy, he is not Kenny.

what about if Kenny finds it hard and we fight all the way to the end to stop us from going down? do we say good bye to him before then?

how many games do we give him to show he can save us?

all needs to be asked

MON? looks like it could still be him, he as been at our last 4 games as guest of our club.

It was part of the risk associated with his appointment: The more success we have in the next six months, the greater the expectation to keep Kenny on for longer. Changing manager while there is a hint of better things to come, and the owners risk being alienated by the fans. Further to that, his replacement would face a tougher task of winning over the supporters (possibly even players and staff, too) as Roy found out both before and soon after he took over from Rafa. Keep him on, and though it might appease the supporters, it might mean passing up the opportunity to hire an up-and-coming manager.

My guess is that they won't have their minds up just yet; I know I wouldn't until I had a clearer idea of the choice to be made; Dalglish vs ?. (I would be on the lookout, however) If they have already made a firm decision, and that decision is to go for a younger alternative come what may, then I think they (and Kenny) need to make it as clear as possible that this is a temporary arrangement with no view to an extension. As I said, though, I think they'll be keeping an open mind on the subject until the choice becomes clearer.

well some still think that Kenny he here to set the club up for the right man to take over and that the owners will get that man....he is jose mourinho.

dont like it myself but the guy thats been saying it has got most of the kenny stuff right and stuff he said has been used on the bbc and sky (ok ok they dont make it right lol)

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I see Steve Clarke has been appointed as a first team coach. Sounds like a good appointment to me.

Hats off to Kenny. He is v.brave indeed to take the job considering he's risking his legendary status. Liverpool fc is in the process of rebuilding and fans cannot expect the glory days of the late 80s to happen within 5 months. We need Kenny to steady the ship and it will be a sensational comeback for Kenny if we can finish 7th again. Don't expect miracles to happen overnight considering Lvp has been on the decline since Hicks and Gillete bought the club. Now with Kenny, we pray, can stop the rot and steer Lvp to the right direction and hopefully within 3 yrs we will be champions again either with Kenny still in charge or a new man with proven ability.

The way this season has been going, if Kenny manages to get the club to 6th-7th he deserve an extention.

But I just don't see it. He might have us finish 9th-10th which is imo better than what Roy would have managed but european places is a big ask.

Interesting question DD like Pablo I think it would be depend on who NESV would have to take over.

I we would love to see Kenny succeed but know they thats its big ask under current circumstances and that he just owed a debt of gratitude for taking over caretaking role to steady the ship

If at end of season they are bringing in Jochiam Low so Kenny can go back to sitting on top of Mount Olympus , I wont have any complaints.

If it someone like Martin ONeill, you can chain Kenny to the dugout for the duration
