Hey MH I've only posted twice in the last 5/6 days so harassing is a bit strong. It is very difficult to ignore somebody who together with a few of her like minded posters have ruined this forum. Why do you think the vast majority of members have disappeared? I only started posting when I thought that Ciggy had honoured her promise to cease posting but for reasons known best to herself like most bad pennies she returned! Her arguments are obtuse and for that reason I'm off.

Have a good Christmas.

I'm not talking about you mate

I'm saying in general, if you don't like what shes posting, ignore and stick to the topic, people don't have to quote her and everything she posts.

I know she isn't making friends here with her posts, I also disagree with most of it, but you don't see me quoting her posts and calling her names! I just stick to the subject and ignore anything that is abusive towards Roy.

Sides above us are a cert to drop points this season, yet Roy is still moaning about how we - sorry, he - won't be able to get us into the CL? The squad we have, as weak as it is in places, is capable of gather enough points to challenge for that spot seeing as other sides aren't playing as well as they should. The fans are simmering as it is, but it'll get to boiling point if he continues to speak like this in the press, then go and get battered in his next away match. He needs to leave now before being disliked turns to hatred.

Totally agree you wont get season ticket holders accepting Hodgson saying forget the CL for the for seeable future, and NESV should be worried by that statement alone they want a full Anfield not low gates.
Which this season has seen plenty of poor attendances.

Roy Hodgson’s time at Liverpool has been a disaster for one reason or another. He looks a manager out of his depth, devoid of tactical knowledge and Liverpool are a club lacking an inspirational leader. Liverpool’s new owners, NESV have accepted that it will take time to rebuild Liverpool, and the vast majority of fans agree that this is a fair assessment. However, will Liverpool continue to take steps backwards, rather than forwards, if they continue with Roy Hodgson at the helm?

The problem with Roy Hodgson is there is one excuse after another. If he isn’t blaming Rafa Benitez for the failings of the club he is blaming players’ fitness or the lack of funds that he was given in the summer. Now, he may be right on all of these points but he has continued to roll off excuse after excuse. If you are managing a team like Liverpool and you have taken 22 points from 17 games, languishing only six points off the drop zone at Christmas, you have to take responsibility for that. Hodgson is seemingly incapable of doing this.

In terms of transfers, Liverpool need to invest this January. They need to add some extra quality to their first team as well as buying younger players for the future. It is looking increasingly likely that they will lose Glen Johnson this January. If last summer is anything to go buy, Liverpool fans can’t get too excited about this transfer window. Last summer Roy Hodgson purchased Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulsen – for Liverpool? They would be decent signings for Fulham but not acceptable for a club like Liverpool. Does Roy Hodgson really have the foresight in the transfer market to achieve the results that the new owners expect? When you waste nearly £9m, it scares you when Tottenham were able to sign William Gallas for free and Rafael van der Vaart for £8m. Even more worrying for Liverpool fans is Hodgson’s hint that he may not even buy in January.

“Clubs have virtually been destroyed by people making bad decisions. It’s not because the owners haven’t given money or supported the manager. It’s just that they have brought in the wrong people.”

At the biggest clubs in the world, there is expectation. The question is, have Liverpool fans and the press been too harsh on Roy Hodgson? He only arrived in July and to be totally fair he has had very very little money (whatever money he has had, he has wasted) to shape a squad in his vision. He hasn’t had the chance to work with Damien Comolli on transfer targets. This is a fair argument, but to be given time you need to have shown somewhere that you deserve it. Has Hodgson done anything that says he is the man to turn Liverpool around? A very impressive win against Chelsea, and that is it. It is time for John W. Henry and Tom Werner to seriously consider Roy Hodgson’s position. They were incredibly awkward in the recent fans phone-in when asked about Hodgson’s future. They would make themselves very popular with Liverpool fans if they were to fire Roy Hodgson sooner rather than later.

Liverpool are in a transitional phase, but that does not mean they have to be where they are in the table. It is becoming too easy for Roy Hodgson to make excuse after excuse and not take responsibility for his own shortcomings. He sounds like a product of Tom Hicks and George Gillet at the moment. Roy Hodgson is out of his depth at Liverpool in terms of the transfer market and on the pitch. Do Liverpool fans really think that if NESV gave Hodgson a vast amount of money he would be able to attract top names? When a club needs to rebuild, it needs to get rid of deadwood. Sadly, Roy Hodgson is part of this deadwood and he will take Liverpool backwards before any progress is made.

Its simple, just ignore it, its out to get people riled up and thats the only reason, the mods wont ban it so just add her to your ignore list, for those that dont know how :

Click on the "Your Messenger" link in the top right hand corner, go to address book, type its name in, enter a short comment (be as inventive as you want) and then click no to allow this person to message you.  Its post will then be blocked.

Simples! Also you can turn off signatures because for some reason, people think its great to take up 4 pages of forum space with massive pictures - you can then get on with posting about football related shizz and hopefully the forum will be a better place, there are people on here who do have the same views as it, however, they debate in a decent way, putting ther point across without totally trying to wind people up.

Hodgson braces reds fans for more Champions League exile

Roy Hodgson has warned Kopites Liverpool's Champions League exile could last longer than just this season.

Reds fans are desperate to qualify for the Champions League after last season's disappointment and reclaim their seat around Europe's top table.

But Hodgson has told them to be patient, warning his rebuilding work at Anfield could take longer.

He claims his priority is to do the job right rather than quickly and alluded to clubs like Leeds who are still paying the price for chasing the dream.

"I would plead for patience really," said the Liverpool boss. "Of course we want Liverpool to be the Liverpool of old. We want to be up there every year competing in the Champions League.

"But we might have to accept that it will take us more than a few months. That would be a small price to pay if you get it right. You only have to look at teams who have tried to stay in the league or get into the top four.

"Clubs have virtually been destroyed by people making bad decisions. It's not because the owners haven't given money or supported the manager. It's just that they have brought in the wrong people."

Hodgson has drawn up a long shopping list for owners NESV for next month, which includes Ashley Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Johan Elmander, Gary Cahill and Adil Rami, as he continues his rebuilding work.

However he refuses to put pressure on John W Henry in his first transfer window since buying the Reds and says he does not expect the American to splash the cash.

NESV feel the market is overpriced in January and are keen to develop the policy begun by Christian Purslow of investing in young British talent.

"If the owners want to invest a lot of money, that's up to them," said Hodgson. "If we find the right players, I'm not going to be saying to them

'don't do it,'. I'm not that stupid. I want to work with the best players possible.

"But with the change that has gone on at the club and the new regime, it would be sensible for the new owners to be a bit more circumspect and get a closer look at everything.

"I don't think it would be a bad thing for us to keep testing out this squad of players.

"Before I start bringing players in, I've got to be aware that when I do, I will be pushing Shelvey or Kelly back. I've got to be convinced that the person coming in is the right one. That's the dilemma. When do we give the youngsters a chance?

"With that in mind, we have to be careful. My message to them would be - and it's no secret because I've had discussions with John about it - if the right players become available, and we really think they will push us on, we should go for them.

"We shouldn't hesitate if they feel they can do it. But I don't think we should be encouraging them to throw a lot of money at it straight away."

Although Hodgson claims Liverpool's squad is weaker than the top four and Tottenham's, he claims he will not just sign players for the sake of it.

"Sometimes I'm frightened as a manager that I might get rid of a player who will be good for the club on the basis that there might be a name out there that looks a bit higher than the player you already have at the club," he said.

"When that player comes in and you work with them for two months, you realise that the name is great and it rings big bells but, in actual fact,

he is no better than the player you let go. He maybe even worse.

"I don't think this group of players will let the club down. I think they will play plenty of good matches between now and the end of the season.

"Whether we are going to start breaking into the top four or hitting the heights without some additions, I'm not prepared to say. I would like to keep my powder dry."
