ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I like this game
Ok lets break it down again

"I think with the first 11 we have we hve the ability to get into the top 4 - we have shown it against chelsea so i dont think its high expectations its a manager holding us back"

You have a worrying negative fixation with the manager if you seriously believe we have a top four team which is being held back by him. If they dont agree with his tactics or set up they should grow some te'sticles and start earning the humungous amount of money we pay them by playing like footballers

"You only have to read through the various threads on here from last season to see the "f.ucking idiots" who stated it was all down to the previous manager"

Now, now. Theres a difference between blaming the old manager for our downfall and expecting the new manager to perform miracles

"The mentality comes from the set up and tactics employed by the manager - they are currently the set up and tactics you see from a mid table team - sit deep and park the bus away from home to try and not lose"

I have seen a steady move toward a more attacking system and feel that we were unlucky to lose 3-1 at newcastle. N'gog partnered Torres so he wasnt isolated as in previous games was he? I agree its not working yet, but with time who knows?

"Desperate decline ?! seriously ? Look at the set up and tactics we play and that is where the negativty stems from - who employs those tactics and set up"

We were in a desperate decline Gybs, even if you wont admit it. We were dropping further down the table and could have ended in the bottom 3 if the season would have finished in July instead of May. Hodgson does need to throw caution to the wind sometimes but not many managers do that nowadays

"Panic buys ? they were bought not long after he arrived and well before the window closed - nothing panic about them .
You would be happy with 6th ? one place above where we finished last season - has our standards dropped that low now . I hope someone has told our owners that 6th isnt good enough."

Hodson was under pressure as soon as he signed on he dotted line and in my opinion rushed into buying what he thought were steady reliable players. He has made a mistake with some and not with others. A month ago I was happy with 10th. Now Im happy with 6th. See the pattern? Yes our standards have dropped due to the fact that we have been treading water for years and its caught up with us. Is Roy the man to get us back to the top? I dont know. I doubt it. But I have absolute faith that the owners dont need anyone to tell them whats good enough and they are already making plans for next season whether we come 6th or not

Woy must only have weeks to save his job if the display tonight is anything to go by. The man is out of his depth yet again he showed it tonight Cole out on the left. Eccleston in for his debut? Why because he's scored goals in league cup matches or a substitute? Would Chelsea, United or Arsenal put a kid into a struggling team in europe like this? I can remember fewere uninspriring displays in Europe at home by any Liverpool team. Mr Werner if you're reading this do the right thing ditch the current manager once and for all so that 2011 and the future are better than the rubbish currently on display at Anfield.

I was never a huge Benitez fan but, how anyone can seriously believe we'd be doing this poorly if he were still here is beyond me.  I don't believe we were in 'desperate decline'.  We had a bad season.  It happens.  Rafa could be infuriating but, come the end of the season, managed to get us into the top four more often than not.  Sadly,  I can't see Hodgson getting anywhere near, even with (hopefully) more helpful owners.  As Thommo's Perm says, we can't say he will fail (or succeed) with any certainty, but, based on the evidence thus far, we can have a fckn good guess.  I hope I'm wrong.

If the new owners can't wake up and realise that Hodgson is no good at all for Liverpool maybe the fans should ask the question are NESV also any good for Liverpool Football Club?

Most likely they are just waiting for next summer when they can get a proper replacement instead of getting fat sam or some other less than perfect replacement now.

is the most likely outcome.
