The performances of last season have been the same as this season, IMO..

1. I can't, my heart says give him a chance but my head says he has to go because his tactics isn't right. I just have small glimmer of hope that he can still turn this season around.

2. Some of our fringe players have stepped up this season, which is fantastic to see, and it has to be credited to the manager for getting the best out of them.

3. It is a good change,under previous management, the football became stale , a lot of mistakes happened,a lot of players were unhappy and a lot of wrong decisions were made. Its a step forward in terms of management change, but in terms of league performances and improvement, I'll give you an answer at the end of the season.

MH you have given the only positive i have seen this season - players like Lucas and Maxi playing lots better.

Surely for it to be called a step forward the manager needs to be an improvement on previous manager - is he an improvement on previous manager

The football this season has been bloody awful - worse than last season IMO .

no way do i agree that the football is worse.

results worse - some without doubt, but its quite similar to last season but the football is not worse no way.

It happens Bob when people avoid the obvious and keep coming up with Rafas mistakes as some sort of defence for the current manager .

Then MH and Ben will we have to agree to disagree - i have managed to get to a few games this season and every time i have wondered why i bothered - the football was some of the worst i have ever seen in my life going to anfield and going by what people were saying around me they agree , also only have to look at the various forums around and its the same thinking . The tactics , the set up etc are bloody awful and our making us play some of the worst football i have ever seen .

I have never absolved the previous manager - i know he made mistakes etc . Last season was shocking and never going to debate against that .

We were stale under Rafa, he hd to go, we saw it in our game, as we see it already in inters.. his time has passed. It really is that simple. From where we were any change is possible improvement

I think the football's been dire and not good enough this season and I think the manager's out of his depth and needs to go. I don't really see the point of discussing whether it's as bad or worse than we were offering up last year because, frankly, the football wasn't good enough last year either and it was time for the manager to go (I know some will take issue with that but that's my feeling and I'm not going to be talked around so let's just agree to disagree on that front...). With all that said, I struggle to understand just why so many people have managed to make such an almighty show of themselves in criticizing the current manager. He's not doing the business and he's on borrowed time...everyone knows this deep down (even Rocky) so why not just chill a little and wait for the inevitable axe to fall?

And there is the problem - it didnt matter to many who came in as long as the previous manager went - and that is the exact reason why we are having such a shocking season and we were are currently way below the standards we are used too - because the owners went along the same thinking - Anyone but previous manager .

If rafa was to be replaced then we should of made sure the replacement was an improvement - we didnt and now we are reaping the rewards for that massive f.uck up .

Sorry but you cant say that - just because things arent working over there - it doesnt equate to not working here .

IMO we would certainly be doing better than what we are now - reason why - because we were never ever this low in the table under Rafa .

You could also have asked why so many make such an almighty show of themselves in defending the current manager and criticizing the former manager. Its not really about football anymore, but imo it seems to have calmed down a bit after Bigmick got banned.

Hopefully we get a fresh start next season with the new manager.

The better question would be, how long do you give a new manager to impose his style, etc and turn things around?

A lot like the whole respect thread I posted ages ago. Rafa had an equally poor start by this point in the league yet he was offered time and respect.

There is no use retrospectively saying he won the CL that year because by this point it looked like we were out at the group stage. Our league performance was woeful. Yet no one was calling for Benitez' head.

Hodgson and Benitez have almost mirrored each other in terms of poor starts at Liverpool. I firmly think Hodgson isn't the right long term man, but he should at least be offered the same time (one season) and respect as Rafa was offered.

its simple you cannot judge roy till the end of the season. How do you know he wont change things around. Plus lets be honest the squad is sh'ite end of.
