Madrid won big again last night and went to the top of the league with a 4-1 win. It is looking like a dogfight between them and Barca, but then I suppose it was always going to be so. Currently they are 1 point ahead.

The Real Madrid that I saw in my town was a Real Madrid that needed to gel, but I think Mourinho has the correct idea for that Real Madrid.

I don't watch any of your league Sabes, but my guess is that Mourinho would make the team much more pragmatic (boring if you like), harder to score against and harder working.

In absolute fairness, with the players they have, if they are well managed they really ought to give Barca the chase up. I thought Ronaldo was a fantastic player when he was at man Utd (albeit a horrible diving c... obviously), and they've bought Ozil who is a top player, have Alonso etc etc. If they can afford to get rid of Van Der Vaart based on how he's going at Tottenham they must be quite good at least.

If Madrid do win it though it'll be dismissed as being handed on a plate to Mourinho, or it'll be said he bought the league or something. That much you can be absolutely certain of.

He'll win the Liga, yep.

Other managers could have done it and have done it before, but Mourinho, perhaps because of his reputation, perhaps because he's a "star coach", he's been eventually allowed the power of decission other managers weren't given.

That is not luck, that is something Mourinho can afford and Pellegrini couldn't. A while back, when things weren't so rosy for Mourinho, he publicly said he'd like to coach for Portugal for some weeks. That was seen as a strength battle with Florentino Perez.

I think I mentioned when RS faced Real Madrid, that Madrid had the right idea for Real Madrid but still needed some time to gel together.

I didn't expect he'd get the gelling right that soon, to be honest.

Now the discussion here is about rotation. Mourinho has announced that he won't sit down Ronaldo under any circunstances.

We'll see what happens with the delayed gazelle and all that in March... In Madrid getting to the semifinals after many years of failure is a must, and Mou will have to deliver.

But my money is with Mourinho, yes. And not that I'm very happy about that.  :)

Probably getting rid of Raul and all he stood for was a major decision which needed to be taken Sabes, and obviously it helps if you have been as successful as Mourinho has that they'll let you do such a thing. The "never sitting Ronaldo down" thing is probably his way of getting inside the feckers head and making him feel loved. He's a clever bloke there's no doubt about it.

Madrid haven't done that well in recent years in the league and have been a disaster in Europe. I think Jose can turn it around. I don't have any allegance in la liga but this year I am cheering for Jose (hate Ronaldo though)

Anyone see Messi's 2nd the other night? The double interchange with Pedro was good enough, but then to chip the keeper from an angle was genius.

I have actually pleasured myself to it  :D

totally out of this world, it was one of those goals that makes you jump out of your seat it was so good, the fact that he finished it with a glorious dink from an acute angle just makes it all the sweater.

Messi has 65 goals in his last 66 games. Hooo -leeeeee- Sh*tttt

He has scored a lot of wonderful goals but that one ranks up there next to the Getafe one for me.

That is a pretty decent piece of work by the two of 'em :O. Nice way to work yourself through a crowded penalty area and what a finish. The guy's unbelievable, and it is absolutely ridiculous if Messi doesn't win the World Player Of The Year (or whatever it's called nowadays) again due to a less than great WC.
