Ah ay yous two said it better than me  , i was referring to Ben an SUPERSUBS POSTS.

Alls i was trying to say is i have supported Liverpool all my life and we have always been there or there abouts in everything ,every comp weve entered ,anything weve done, i even want us to batter everyone in a freindly , and as i said for me being happy  just finishing 6th /5th or even outsidethe top four because we will have betterd last season 7th , is a no no.

The main problem in that getting 6th and not 4th is that 6th does not provide champions league football. One season out of europes elite is hard to take, 2 in a row might spell the end of the likes of torres and reina stepping out onto the anfield turf. Some of us might settle for 6th, some for 5th, some for 4th, etc but deep down inside, everyone knows that nothing less than 4th will almost certainly, at the very least, encourage all the big teams in europe to come in with cheeky bids for our top players.

Fourth for me is minimum requirement, this is LFC and we really cant afford not to be in the CL

Agree this we have to improve on last year seventh seems to be more about winning forum arguments which still seems to dominate this place then anything else

If Roy was to get fifth or sixth then it would for me to be seen as failed season while I think it would be rather harsh and unfair on the man considering its only his first season.
However this is Liverpool and as last manager found out, expectation is high

thats fair enough

and i think Joe was the one who brought up the ex manager, not Mick

Round and round we go in circles people have blamed Rafa this season Roy included for our poor results, boo hoo this is Rafas team not good enough, yet when we beat Chelsea its Roys team ? People need to make their mind up.

Never mind Joe bringing rafa up the Roy Posse bring him at every opportunity cant help themselves you included.

Thats why people argue the fact back, its supposed to be a Liverpool dissgussion forum when the only thing that ever fuckin gets talked about is Rafa & Roy  :sleep  :sleep  :sleep  :sleep  :sleep

Roys the manager now Rafas gone !!!

You dont seem to see that one of the reasons we go round in circles is because you constantly slag our current manager while telling us how good our previous manager was.
Its ironic that you should be telling us to let it go, as you obviously cant.
A serious question cig. How does it make you feel that while the club you love is winning, the man you hate is managing these wins?

People do get jumpy over nothing these days :D Look, I think we'll replace Roy EVEN IF WE DO GET IN THE TOP FOUR. Equally, I actually think we've got an outside chance of actually getting there so I'm not making excuses in advance. Naturally it won't be easy as at least two and possibly three of the spots are already booked out, but it is possible.

Whether people "demand" a top four spot off Roy, whether they "expect" it off of him, whether they think it's a success or a failure if we finish fifth or sixth is really up to them to be honest, I don't see why people get antagonised over it.

My guess is though we'll finish 6th, and I think (rightly) that the board will consider that although we've improved, it's not by enough. They'll change the manager then I should think. Why on earth people get all frothy about it though I just can't work out.

Fortunately though, Roy is at least proving now that he isn't the buffoon or the idiot that some made him out to be. He's a decent manager who's doing a decent job. Nothing more, nothing less.

See its posts like this that really stir it up.

Yesterday we had some saying we must win the next 3 games.
That was putting pressure on the players and the manager.

While i agree we want to win the 3 games we have to be realistic.
We picked up 4 points from them last season and while last season isnt always what we want to be looking back at or comparing. It is still relevant.
Our away form last season was shocking and at the start of this it has been similar.
So trips to Wigan and Stoke are not easy games at all, and while they are winnable if we dont win it shouldnt be all Roy has fecked up blah blah blah.

The truth is last season given the turmoil behind the scenes we struggled to mount a challenge for a champions league place and eventually finished seventh ....that point is not open to debate ...however with the same owners still to be ousted Roy took us dangerously close to the bottom of the pile ,but now with the supposedly rough waters calmed and plain sailing assured by our new owners we should expect to climb the table ,and at the very least a top 4 finish or a battle to the wire for it ,because no less would have been expected from Rafa  ....... If the owners were not a viable excuse for our eventual slide down the table under Benitez ...then why can Hodgson be absolved of the very same accusations ....if the previous owners were still taking up residence at the club would we still be clawing our way back up the table ? wouldn't the same scenario have occurred under Rafa if he had lasted long enough to see in the new regime
One thing that's become pretty obvious is this particular debate will run and run .....I just fail to see why fans should lower their aspirations especially given the club now seems on a firm footing towards future success

I don't know about "stir it up" Ben because it doesn't overly wind me up, but it is a silly thing to say that they are "must wins" and if we don't then Roy has fecked up. It's so daft it's barely worth responding to. To be honest I'd be over the moon Brian with seven points out of the nine. I don't think that means I'm "accepting mediocrity" either, I think any team in the league would be happy with that.

Why people insist on making these daft statements is beyond me, but they do.

Totally 100% agree with this. The squad is weak in places, but the team is good enough to challenge strongly for a Champions League slot. Obviously should Torres or Gerrard get long term injured we would become big outsiders, but given an even run we should be right in the mix in my view. See sixth and missing out on fourth by 2 points is very different to 6th and 11 points off it.

Like I say though, I think we will replace Roy whatever happens. That said, if he did get us into the top four he could consider himself unbelieveably unlucky to get the push. My guess is he'd have to get top four AND win a trophy to both keep his job and win over enough of the doubters to consider himself supported by the majority of fans.

i think it certainly is open for debate, red - and i'm sure it will debated, argued and fought over for some time to come. our sudden upturn in results did coincide with a change of owners and i'm certain that a sense of relief was felt by all. it also happened at a time when some players stated that hodgson's new methods were beginning to sink in and torres was getting some fitness and sharpness back.

i'm not denying that a change of ownership has had an effect but i think its overly simplistic to put it all down to that. i'm sure that the manager is also playing his part. whether its all coincidence and whether benitez would have seen the same or better return we'll never know.

Yes despite hearing that "it's the owners innit" for many years, when we in the relegation zone this season pretty much nobody offered up that excuse. Rightly so too, because it wasn't the owners fault before, and it wasn't the owners fault this season either.

Similarly, it wasn't the owners who deserved credit when we won the Champions League, it was Rafa and the players. Just like now, it's Roy and the players who deserve total credit for us showing signs of getting something going.

Why would Hodgson get the push if he got us into the top 4 - im pretty sure no one would want him sacked if he achieved that .
