Roy has taken over a team which finished seventh. By definition the latters task is much harder.

Roy obviously can't do that because in Rafa'a last season we didn't actually qualify for it.

No, I think the only sensible comparison is to go with the most recent one.

ok if we are going to go down that route which everyone is bored sh!tless with by now seen as its being mentioned in every single bloody topic.

2 seasons ago Fulham finished 7th last season they finished 12th so did Roy take Fulham backwards? Roy wouldnt be winning the CL if we where still in it dont be acting the goat.

So the most sensible comparisons to go with here are Fulham finishing 12th last season IMO he took Fulham backwards, like Rafa took us backwards finishing 7th lets call a spade a spade hey if people keep on bringing last season up its only fair Roys last season with Fulham is brought up aswell.

And TBH its getting on my t!ts now bla, bla, bla, boo hoo hoo that nasty Rafa lost the plot Roys our saviour it doesnt matter if we finish 15th 12th, 5th 3rd as long as the devil incarnate has left the club and moved to Inter Milan.

Rafas gone get the fuck over it !!!!

surely its a lot more simple than everyone is making out. the primary task of a new manager is to ensure that the team he is currently managing improves on the situation it was previously in, regardless of any other external factors or situations.

its the only logical view.

Dont be talking so rational what would the moaners have to moan about if it was that simple?

The only thing Roy has to do as our new manager is get us playing better than last season and improve results, thats what his job entails if he delievers then everyones a winner, if he fails its his fault no one else's.

Round and round we go in circles people have blamed Rafa this season Roy included for our poor results, boo hoo this is Rafas team not good enough, yet when we beat Chelsea its Roys team ? People need to make their mind up.

Never mind Joe bringing rafa up the Roy Posse bring him at every opportunity cant help themselves you included.

Thats why people argue the fact back, its supposed to be a Liverpool dissgussion forum when the only thing that ever fuckin gets talked about is Rafa & Roy  :sleep  :sleep  :sleep  :sleep  :sleep

Roys the manager now Rafas gone !!!

Why shouldnt we demand to be in the top four , its Liverpool we support its were we belong , Yeh others have spent including Arry,so what im sorry but as some were saying 7th wasnt good enough last season with a war going on in the background fair enough   There are no obsticles going on behind the scenes , fresh air is being breathed everyday there in the corridors, money has been spent, and money will be spent. i am not gonna be pleased if we finish 7th /6th Roy was brought in to better that and get us back into the top four and compete for the prem, makes me laugh how all of a sudden were happy if were gonna finish higher than 7th , Sorry im not happy being a mediocre team .
An i know what the comebacks are gonna be ,but but your chosen one , well put it this way i would of just liked to look into the future at the end of last season and seen what would of happend with New owners and you know the rest ,
An before any other comebacks yes i want Roy to succed because liverpool football club will succede. But im sorry i wont be happy with just a 7th./6th place finish

same thread, same people , same sh!t....give Roy the stage...forget the comparisons with Benitez's last season or any season....If Roy achieves 6th, it may be wonderful for some and a huge improvement for others but I would guess it will be universally accepted as a big dissappointment......As with every season you are not guaranteed a top 4 finish but the critics of newkit do expect it and were quite happy to beat the drum if we didn't and on that note it is only fair, with the stronger squad of players we have this season we should be fighting amongst the top 4 ....of course it would be to our benefit and Roy's, if Torres stays fit for the most part and Gerrard stays focused on football rather than other issues. If we scored a success in any of the cup competitions then , I , myself would look on this season as successful even if we were not to achieve the CL spot...but sadly in the modern age this will not do because players and fans want more...why win cups when 4th is the holy grail ........anyway my coffee is going cold...keep it up Roy....play your best 11 and no rotation

Agree with this.

We should without doubt be aiming at the top 4 every season.
We still have top players and if on our day we can beat anyone then that should mean we are good enough to be right up there.
None of this 7th or 6th. That isnt good enough.
If that's where we end up Roy wont have done a good enough job, fo dne  :D

I think the problem is that certain members tend to drag up last years 7th place as the stick to beat our previous manager in every thread and in nearly every post they create...it does get a little tedious nad is why so many threads are de-railed...whether it is intentional, provocative or just plain pig-headedness is open to debate but they do like a chuckle to themselves I imagine  :;):
