well you liked the previous manager that wasnt right for the job.
Sorry liked is past tense so not the correct term.

Can you honestly say Rafa was not right for the job ?

Did he not deliver Big Ears etsbalishing us as a european force again, FA Cup and league improvements.

I agree it was time for him to go - and he left.. but can you honestly deny him, given winning No 5 - if only that ?

Surely not.

I felt, at the time,  Roy was not the right man for the job - was appointed by a defunct regime etc etc, with no ambition. However once appointed, I want him to succeed - because that means Liverpool are doing well...

I still want him to succeed, but he looks out of his depth and is resorting to excuses for failings that are really about motivation, tactics and his own ability to raise the bar.

Frankly as Rafa said everytime he opens his mouth it's a disaster..

Frankly what Rafa says is not important...

The new manager has come in as the old manager had taken us as far as he could and we had become stagnant, what happens now is what is important

I hope Roy picks a strong team tomorrow and not select a side because we face Chelsea on sunday.

No i will agree with most of your post.
Rafa won the champions league and that was by a mile against the odds.
He then won a very good FA cup despite the final performance not being great. We ko'd united and chelsea en route.
Like you said things went stale and it was time to go.
A good honest post where you state that you dont think Roy is the right man for the job. But you state that you will support him.

All's i would say in response to the last point is actions speak louder than words  :)

agree 100%

i want us to win every game, and to play further up the field, and give Torres as much support as he can get. Id love Kuyt back sooner rather than later and id love the players to give 115%

so you agree that he had to go. good.

were you aware of the financial turmoil the club was in?
the ownerships issue?
the legal drama?

so, with no promise of having any money to spend, and possibly working under owners with horrible reputation ( if H&G won the cases), tell me who would've come over to manage us?

Roy has just won the LMA, he has a reputation to lose as well. sometimes what some posters should do is take a step into that person's shoes and feel the weight of the world on his shoulders.

i guess at the end of the day, it boils down to the fact that Roy was the best we could have gotten. who else were there? Mark Hughes?
i do agree with Zara regarding his comments though, it does have a rather defeatist attitude about it. but whether or not it was made to take the pressure off the players we will never know.

agreed.. do you think the problem with the owners.. the lies and deceit, exposing the truth and standing-up for the club and supportersd etc impacted on Rafa? He worked under that pressure and circumstance longer NO?

so.. the weight thing .. look I want Hiddink-type cos that what the 'ambition' of this club deserves  :)

im sure that is the type of manager the club will eventually get but for now, this transition period, we'll have to make do with what we've got. we're all in it together....fans, players and staff. no one likes it when we lose. they should not like it to begin with. its like a relationship, the couples involved would argue with each other when they should rightly be arguing together against the issue. get what i mean? :D

in short, what im saying is, be constructive. look at how many times we've seen a thread temporarily locked for clean ups? how many times threads have been derailed. instead of degrading one's self to such low levels by insulting the manager and making jokes, constructive feedback should be put forward. im pretty certain most of us pro-Roys do feel that he is not the man for the job in THE LONG RUN but as he is here now, have respect.

.. Respect is earnt may, it's not about being 'pro' - Roy had respect - he has lost it recently thorugh his own antics and quotes - he'll have to work to earn it again.. in rafa quite frankly he won his respect and status at Istanbul - that is the difference - its stuff of legends.. it is folklore, whatever passed since - that won't change nore will Rafa turning-up in a bar full of reds fans on the road to Istanbul, those grteat european nights .... he got it, he earnt it !

My guess is he would, course whether it would have worked or not is another question.

Are we discussing our former manager again?  :bowdown

Its ok when you want to take the pi$$ but not at other times?

Roy wouldn't know a plan if a proper manager  had one drawn on his fucking shoes

its when he comes up to give an interview with a piece of paper naming 'this is fact' or signing Robbie Keane when we'll see he's completely lost the plot  :D

Im talking about Roy fella ....the only time Rafa looks at his shoes is when he takes them off
Oh and Poulson and Konchesky their obvious quality is there for all to see .......  two sterling acquisition's

Meireles was a good buy, and he had to do quick buys after Masher left... lets see how he does in January before we start calling him abusive things like a nasty twisted old man eh?
