Yeah and other problem is you end up looking some rich man's bitch toy with plastic fans, no class and no history

Am I still here?

:D

Anyway, Roy is not out of the woods yet, if we beat Chelsea he will have 50% of my support...

If we get into CL spot, he will get 100% of my support...

If he can't improve on last season's finish, he should go at the end of the season...

PS. So much for the pro-rafa posters having 'mob mentality' eh Bigmick? look who's got big shiny "Respectfulz" in their sig...

Roy thinks 4 more points will be enough in Europe

The Reds currently lead Group K with five points - two ahead of Utrecht and Thursday's opponents Napoli.

And with two of the three remaining group games to be played at Anfield, Hodgson is confident of progressing.

He said: "We've got two home games now. I think if we can get four more points we'll be pretty much secure for a place in the next round. I can see the other games being tight.

"On paper it looked like an even group. We got one of the tougher groups with Napoli, Steaua and Utrecht but we've done what we've needed to do."

Meanwhile, Hodgson is set to make changes against a team who sit fifth in Serie A - though perhaps not as many as for previous Europa League games.

Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger are all out, while Ryan Babel is still struggling with a knock to the ribs sustained in a reserve friendly against Huddersfield last week.

However, Glen Johnson could return after four matches on the sidelines with a muscle injury.

"We won't rest too many," the boss explained. "It's a home game and when you're playing these European games it's the travelling that's one of the worst aspects.

"You're away for three days and you're very concerned about the way the players will react, not just to the game but also the travelling.

"At home it's a slightly lesser problem but of course we need to look at the minutes people are playing and try to keep some sort of balance there.

"Of course there are international games coming up as well and some players might get a week without a game and others won't - so we have to take that into consideration.

"We'll have a strong team out on Thursday."

One man who could be involved is Sunday's match-winner Maxi Rodriguez, who bagged his second goal for Liverpool in the 1-0 defeat of Bolton.

Hodgson is delighted with the Argentina international's form in the absence of the injured Dirk Kuyt.

"Maxi is a quiet man and his English isn't as good as some of the players, so it's not easy to have a long conversation with him," said Hodgson. "But he's picked up very quickly on what we want him to do and how we want him to play. In the games he's played recently he's been very good.

"He didn't get a chance from the outset because we had Dirk Kuyt playing in that position, but since he's come in he's done very well.

"It's good to see him crown one of those performances with a goal because if you're one of the front six you need to score goals.

"It was good to see him chip in with a very good goal that was brilliantly set up.

"He can play right or left very comfortably, and I think he could also play centrally."

I disagree that this is an even group.  Liverpool are a lot stronger than these teams.

PRECISELY  why the outrage ? its not the first time Roy's been caught out spinning a yarn

Firstly Im disappointed that Roy said this (if he did) but I can understand that he is constantly trying and mostly failing to win fans over with his statements.
But I am more disappointed that Benitez seems hell bent on searching for disparaging comments from our club in order to fire shots back and cause damage. He doesnt have to do this. If he kept a dignified silence I personally would respect him more and feel that Hodgson was out of order. As it is I feel that Benitez is totally disrespecting the very people he claims to have given pride to and fought for. Us.
He, of all people should know that what is happening at the club is ripping the fan base apart and his comments will make the flames higher. Yet he chooses to do this regardless of the trouble he knows he is causing.
Selfish, arrogant and spiteful

TBF Rafa said tonight Roy has been fed wrong information by someone and is passing it on in the press, he said he respect Hodgson but what he is saying is not true.  And he still has friends at Liverpool and they keep telling him what Roy is saying and he wants it to stop and had to defend himself against things that are just not true.

going by SSN last night it was KENNY that told Roy that Rafa asked to be banned from the traning ground.

but yet again we only have someone in the media saying that.

there was a good bit on my loacal radio last night, they spoke about new managers coming into clubs with debt, so yes they started taLKING ABOUT US.

I have no idea who the guy was on there but he said he worked with sammy lee for years.

he said that Lee is working well with Roy and is very happy in the way Roy is looking at the first team.

the guy then said something like this.

when the money is spent in the new window we will see who is buying the players, we know the ones that Roy has his eyes on and if they are they players that come then we can sum up that Roy will be staying at the club for sometime.

looking at the players at thr weekend they did seem a lot fitter and there were some great balls put in but the main thing was they seemed more happy, they never gave up, there was no sitting back. a big change in what we have seen so far.

maguskwt wrote:Why doesn't Roy shut up first? did you ever ask that you numpty... Roy goes on taking pot shots at other people in press conferences... they have a right to defend themselves...

Exactly, theres only one person who kicked this off and thats Roy.

If he would have kept his mouth shut Rafa woundlt have said a word.

And hes had a go at Rijkaard saying hes not that good a manager anyway.  :Oo:

I dont know where this nice man thing has come from because the only people Ive seen him being nice to is Moyes & Fergusson, and the arm around the shoulder statement is also bullsh!t calling the players flops and B team.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

My guess is he would, course whether it would have worked or not is another question.

Are we discussing our former manager again?  :bowdown

Wouldn't have mattered what he came up with. Sometimes players are just unplayable. That was Bale last night. Maicon had a shocker though. I'm 100% sure that Bale would rip Carragher or Johnson to shreds, even with Kuyt infront of them.

Agreed Mike, Maicon is one of not thee best right back in the world, and we all know Zanetti caliber  a  player which i love tbh, Wonderful player and servant to the game. Would any one have expected them to be dropped following Bales display in Milan, be honest , Because i dont think so, If Bale keeps up this form :censored:,in hell i fear for us if Carra is right back or even if Johnno is there , As you said ,Carragher and Johnno wouldnt have stopped him last night even with Kuyt there and they are not near the class of Maicon and Zannetti .

What a great and relevant comparison as I'm sure we'll play Konchesky at rb and Poulsen at rm against Spurs.

From PA...

At his pre-match press conference Hodgson offered his apologies to predecessor Rafael Benitez.
The Spaniard, on Monday, responded to comments the 63-year-old had made about the state of the club when he took over by saying "He's talking about things that he doesn't know.
"Some people cannot see a priest on a mountain of sugar. Instead of talking about flips and flops, he has to concentrate on his job, try to do his best and not talk about the level of his players or the new players."
Hodgson today offered an olive branch to Benitez, who has continued to criticise elements at the club despite leaving for Inter Milan in the summer.
"I totally agree with him that every manager needs to work with his own club," said the Reds boss.
"If I have upset him by saying something which I certainly didn't mean to be in any way critical or negative about his work at the club, then I would happily apologise because there was never any intention to do that.
"As far as I am concerned I work at Liverpool and do my best for Liverpool, and he will work at Inter and do his best for Inter.
"I have no comments to make about other people's opinions - I'll allow them to make them and in this case I'll accept them if that's what they want to be."

I bet some will find ways of pulling this to pieces still.
