ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ben Patrick » Tue Nov 02, 2010 3:40 pm

I still maintain these two issues are seperate and that Rafa needed to go.
Despite our poor start. Things may get better under Hodgson than they are currently, they may not.
But things were getting worse at almost as an alarming rate last season as they are this.
Yes we were never in the bottom 3 but we are not now and we are not that far off being in the same sort of position in the league now as we were with Rafa.
This mug yous are all criticising to the hilt who is not fit to lace rafas boots isnt really doing a drastically worse job on reflection.
He is in no way doing a good enough job for my liking but i think people are forgetting (conventiently) just how bad last season was.
We lost a ridiculous amount of league games. Lost half our champions league games and went out in the group.
We then lost in the europa league away at Benfica and Lille before them.
Reading knocked us out of the cup at home.
But Roy is not fit to lace Rafa's boots ?

Well he might not have been a success but the last man was taking us in the exact same direction as we have been this season.

Yes agree Torres has looked lazy but he is being asked to play the role of a target man - how many long balls are pumped up now for him to chance - he is getting demoralized .

Yes, Reina did get the golden glove 3 years running, that is down to what we had

This was our consistent back four

Riise Hyypia Carra Finnan

Thats a top quality backfour there, Hyppia was our leader in the air, Carragher had his best years in that back four, Finnan Mr. Consistent and Riise as well was solid.

We don't have that anymore, it became worse last season and we did not reach the same level we did in terms of performance and actually defending. Also, even under Rafa, we have been using long balls to Torres, Manchester United at OT, remember? or Carragher's long pass which Torres scored a superb goal against Blackburn too. He hasn't been up to his standards, his body language says it all.

we won our previous match. sure, it wasnt a fancy win. but we got the 3 points. some might call it "winning ugly".
but how many times have Man Utd won ugly and instead of being slammed, they were praised for being battlers and trying hard?

Think there is a difference in the type of long ball thou mate - Pepe and Gerrard etc were using long balls over the top of defences on a quick break to try and get Torres in behind the oppo back four where as the long balls we are seeing right now are ones where he is being asked to hold the ball up or head on etc - something that is just not in his game .

Your prob right about the back four mate .

look at how tight the table is. 4th place is still possible. you never know. instead of being such a pessimist, have some faith.
of course there's worry and anger, but instead of making "jokes" and continually calling the manager all kinds of stuff, why not contribute to sensible discussion? have some eloquence and class.
its ironic how when we played poorly last season, its the owners fault but when Roy started badly, its his fault. why the double standard?
by default, Roy should have our support and as "the best fans in the world" we should be portray ourselves in better light instead of being the next batch of Newcastle fans.
its still transition period, have some faith. it could do wonders. dont press the panic button just yet. or for some, let go of it.

I like you optimism Maypax and with 28 games to go if we can continue to improve (which we can), all the Hodgson shi'te aside, I also believe a top four finish is not beyond us.

i hope so Woof. its already bad enough for Roy having to come in during such a turbulent period and instead of making it harder for him by scrutinizing his every word and calling for his head every other post, we should have some patience.

People would give Roy 40M? really?

The players he bought so far have been quite bad, some even terrible.
And the players he was targetting were also quite bad.

You really think we could've carried on with him in charge, ?

You really think Gerrard and Torres would still be here now with the previous manager in charge.

Personally I think not,

So the club took a punt on the LMA Manager of the year.

I don't know if he'll still be here next season, but I'd trust him with the best part of £40M in January,

Lets face it, he surely will come back with something better than Aquillani and Johnson.

.

We all know that this is all SPEKULASHION...with no proof whatsoever... grasping at straws... I would accept it if someone said we are getting stale under Rafa or that he had to go because he couldn't achieve 4th... but losing the dressing room, Gerrard and torres will leave if he stayed it's all feckin non-sense...

anway i'm sick and tired of this thread...

gonna retire from it...

PS. Anyway what's with that stupid dot before or after everytime you post... you're trying to be different from others? trying to seek some attention? " Heyyy! lookie here! I got a little dot in front or after my every post!"
