Ok but I still feel the hoops will win it this year despite that flattering result

That could have easily been a statement about Benitez last season...

Is your name Paul ?  :D

So people insulting a hapless, in way over his head, manager is the reason why we are playing :censored: is it??
We beat Bolton but don't for one second say it was a convincing display, it was back to the same haphazard crappy football we've been playing all season, the team look as if they have never played together before, it is depressing.

righto

moving on, the Chelsea game will show (i hope) if we've turned a corner. If we win (big if) we will be in the top six and on the fringe of the top 4

I only saw the second half so maybe I sshouldnt post this, but I thought we looked ok against Bolton.  Its not the easiest ground to get a result at but we pressed well, had loads of possession and looked up for it.  For me it was another step in the right direction, still loads of room for improvement but a better performance none the less.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

We are at home for the Chelsea game ,so we should go all out for a win ....we definitely have the players to win this, and a morale boosting victory would provide  real impetus to claw our way back up the table ..... and make clear our intentions for the rest of the campaign ...... and finally lets see how the manager fares against Ancelotti as a true gauge  of his managerial acumen

I'm not sure it's accurate to say it's a "true guage of his managerial acumen" after the result of one match, regardless of the result. Put it this way, if we win it and get maximum points for the third game in a row I don't for a moment expect a mass conversion from anyone who doesn't rate him. Similarly though, if the current best team in the league manages to beat us at Anfield, it doesn't necessarily mean that Roy is an idiot.

The truth is that sooner rather than later we are going to arrive at a point where the team is in and around where we finished last season. We're 12th now so not really in the mix for a comparison, but once we get to 10th and above then obviously we are going to be at the very least flirting with the idea of bettering last seasons finishing spot.

THAT for me is where we'll see a true test of Roys acumen. Can he improve us from the point where he took over. he took over a team which finished 7th and bombed out in all the cups, if he can't improve upon that then he needs to go.

I can understand why Liverpool fans show an interest in past players and managers but I find amazing how this forum has members who spend/post more in a thread dedicated to a manager with no connection to Liverpool whatsoever. Maureen has not gone because he was never here.....

I would happily take a draw from sunday.
What a great point that would be against a rampant chelsea who have taken 25 points from 10 games.
A win would be unbelievable but we have to go for it

I think it's the Rafa/Maureen comparison which explains the interest. There are many on here who maintain Rafa is the better manager (although they talk about it less since Mourinho won the Champions league with Inter and has started well at Madrid). This is why there's interest I think.

It's also one of the best threads on the boards to be truthful, with some interesting football discussion going on.

Bizarrely I actually fancy us to win it. We have the look of a team who is about to produce a performance to me, while Chelsea have wriggled out of a couple of recent tricky situations. I take us to get home by two clear goals, strange but true.
