so Roy is not allowed to praise Carragher for his attacking display? Roy can't use the Blackburn game as a benchmark to go on and get the same performance against Bolton next week? Seriously, some of you lot have a personal vendetta on the man, what do you want from him really? He is basically saying if  we put the same performance we gave against Blackburn we will win more games, now that is not hard to understand is it? I really have no clue whats wrong he said in his above comments? please clarify.

I'll second that.

Its one win against a poor team - i hope we play better and that wasnt our limit . Hodgson might of been better saying " it is a start but i know the players can improve even more " . He can say whatever he wants off the pitch - its what happens on the pitch that matters . He has said some really daft things but the performance and results matter more

Poor team or not, we can say that all the time, but it was a very good TEAM performance, and if we keep playing like that we will beat Bolton, its not hard really mate. If we beat Bolton, some will come and say ''oh well, Bolton are shyte anyways''. I agree to some extent that there are room for improvement, but lets not hide the fact that Roy is just praising his side for the effort it gave on sunday, there is nothing wrong with that.

Some of our players just decided to attack - being the home side and all - and they sh*t bricks. No biggie as to how that would go, then. But if Roy thinks that using a tall CB as one of our main avenues of attack is playing good football is the way to go from here on in, then we're even more f*cked and he is even more more clueless than I gave the man credit for. I think we'll see his masterplan come to shreds against Bolton on Sunday, because they won't just sit back and be pressed.

Carlos Alberto I fucking wish
Good performance..... but do we have to ruin it with outlandish statements
Now you come to mention it he did at times play like that  young French RB Lilian Thuram and I thought the midfield of Socrates and Zico were brilliant as well ....if only we could have got Pele on sooner the score would have been so much greater

I can understand why people would want to rip into Roy over his more questionable statements.
After all Benitez got leathered for most of his whoppers

The statement Hodgson made about Carra bombing down the flank is funny, but I'm glad he said it.  If it is his intent to have the L and R backs more involved in the attack, then why haven't we seen it until now.  It seems like against Napoli they sat back much more, Kelly rarely got far enough forward to make crosses.

I hope its not an "away game" strategy.  We'll get ripped to shreds if we don't play high up the park home or away.

Everybody in here does seem to go a bit overboard about the things Hodgson says. It's how we play that matters, none of you would give a flying f..u..c..k if we were winning every week. Must admit he's said a few things that have perpelxed me but lots of you go O.T.T with it. "I can't believe he said that!", "Did you hear what he said!?!", "Deery me!". It's all a bit Dot Cotton if you ask me.

Spot on Scottbot.  If we were winning his statements would be "eccentric" or "mind games", but we're not so they're "idiotic" and "hurt the club's status" and so on.  I'll agree that a few of the things he's said I could do without - especially the quotes where he bigs up rivals, something I never heard Rafa do.

This is why people accuse him of having a "small team" mentality though.

We should never talk up our rivals.  (especially at Anfield).  We should be more confident of our own abilities to beat anyone we face.

A draw at Birmingham is not a terrible result but we shouldn't of celebrated it in the manner that we did.

Is it true that Scousers are quite Scandinavian, I'm sure I read somewhere that they share a lot of the same genetic material etc?
