Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This team is quickly starting to become the Spice Boys!  A soft touch, nice manager who is too nice for his own good, plays players were THEY want.  Carra and Gerrard having a say on who is manager and god knows what else.  A bunch of players that might make an England B team in Carra, Johnson, Konchesky and Cole.

We need a strong manager to command respect.

@7 Kewell:

Maybe mate but I'm more concerned we get another half-cocked replacement and allow him to waste the transfer kitty.

The future of the club is more important than Torres.

Is that true igor regarding carra? I always had a feeling a player who have some influence was anti Benitez. It was most probably either carra or gerrard, but gerrard doesn't seem to be very political. Carra on the other hand was insisting he won't play RB and such under rafa. I don't believe rafa lost the dressing room, but he might have lost Carra or gerrard. This Englishman as manager idea sounds really like something it would come from carra and gerrard. It might also explain why the team doesn't have chemistry now. FWIW I do believe there is a rift inside the team itself...

Carra and Gerrard no doubt had a big part to play in Rafa getting sacked and Roy appointed.

This has probably led to trouble with the likes of Torres + Reina.

They're captain and vice captain.  Both apparently had a bust up with Rafa last season.

Not doubt Purslow would of asked their opinions on a manager before appointing Roy.  They both said before that they'd like an English manager.

And they're both currently acting like Roys personal bodyguards.

The first two parts of your reply are blatant speculation.

Where or when did they 'say' they wanted an english manager ?

I highlighted say as it may have been indicated and that's what could be leading to all of these rumours.

I still find it absolutely ridiculous that Carra was given a new contract the day before new owners were confirmed, especially with the manager under such pressure.

Indeed it stinks to high heaven even though i dislike roy I dont think it was his decision either because he didnt even mention it.

95 grand a week we could be paying a young world class player that.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I don't have any solid evidence but its my own perception at least.
I watched Gerrard all last season and he didn't seem to care less on the pitch and he never backed Rafa one bit.

This season in the Derby and Sunderland game, there is clearly tension between Torres and Stevie/carra.

i believe both players had a part in Roy's appointment.  Ive seen them both do numerous interviews this year were they're backing Roy all the time.

So i don't actually have evidence, but its the same amount of evidence that Rafa had lost the dressing room.

its kind of off topic now anyways.  The most important thing now is that we appoint a good manager and no player has any say in it.

I think right now, Kenny is the only logical choice until the team has some stability and sorted out their issues. I believe only Kenny would be able to unite the team and bring them forward whatever their issues are. Fans will be united and supportive of Kenny as well because he actually knows Liverpool's values...

carragher also "refused" to play right back last season and yet this season surprise surprise he played at right back in the derby, despite the fact that we had martin kelly on the bench.

you do the maths.

But its not on.

These two are getting slated for 'allegedly' being involved with

a) getting Rafa the sack
b) appointing the new manager.

No evidence at all to back it up whatsoever.

Maybe Gerrard played like that lost season because his head was gone ?
That might not be what you want from your captain but every player/person has a breaking point.

For me Rafa was sacked/left by mutual consent because of results.

Roy was brought in by a board that have little or no football expertise. They could easily have looked and seen Fulham in the Europa final and thought - lets go with an englishman thats doing well.

Clearly the wrong decision now, but Stevie and Carra's appointment ?

Speculation and rumour says yes, but that's all it is.

I dont know why these two are coming in for so much stick  ???
