with all due respect to Carra I think he will make a lousy manager mate... maybe a good coach but not a good manager...

It was clear he was out of his depth the moment he brought over Konchensky

We need a striker ....  and if Roy once again fails to get one in January then I'm afraid its his head on the chopping block.
We are playing a negative 4-5-1 which leave Torres isolated, Its is the worse thing you could ever do to a player lacking confidence.
I was impressed with Babel coming on in the mersey, He showed more passion in the 10 mins he was on then what the rest of the team did during the whole match. I think he must be used as a striker until january.

Ditto for Gerrad. In fact, I think SG is a lousy captain. I've said it before and mean it even more so now.
Than again, who would respond to any kind of metaphorical - or literal - kick up the ar$e from a captain if you're STILL gonna get more in one week than most make in 2-3 years ?
Captains should inspire and lead. He can't do that and neither can anyone else in the squad.

NANNY RED wrote:Theres nothing fair about it , The bitters had done what they need to do and closed the shop, There wasnt a threat from anyone and they knew it,  FFS Izzat we have scored 1 goal from open play this season, one goal, I was gonna go to Napoli ive never been there before but feck that for a lark spend loads to go and watch him use his 35 year old system no chance, so ive give up my ticket, Moyes this morning said the bitters played bad and they have played better this season and lost , i totaly agree with him because the bitters wernt all that good either , but it just shows you how bad we were ,

Oh and Roy behave will you, youve already sh,it on Agger one of the best ball playing centre halfs at this club since Hansen, and you bring us Konchesky , really really really FOL

I agree Nanny, I also do we were terrible, nothing, even tactics were wrong, but I was just saying to be fair with everyone that we did better than the bitters in last hour or so, but still we weren't good enough. Things must change, either Roy has to change his ways or we change the manager and get someone who can get the best out of our players.

Sorry mate, when you have a player who comes in and saves you so many times, ala West Ham and Istanbul and many other games, means that this player is a strong leader on the field because he is one of the best there is. Gerrard is a born leader, he takes the team by the scruff of the neck and is our best player, brilliant captain sorry.

Nothing to do with being a leader, he's a talisman.

Leadership is Emlyn, , Thommo, Souness etc.. who let every player know what was expected, dominated the changing room, led the banter, let the partying - and suffered the gripes and complaints as a result.

Gerrard is too nice to be a leader, you need someone who combines skill, genuine leadership and a nasty streak.

I see a leader on the pitch, never mind what he does in the dressing room. Istanbul proved why he was a true leader, best man out there, he and Carragher.

I see you can say Reina would be a good leader, because usually are into sorts of these things in dressing room (When spain won the WC, he lead everything, the party, the banter, the spokesman of the team).

on gerrard, even though he's captain he blatantly needs a manager strong enough to define his role within the side though. just because he's captain and our best player, it shouldn't mean he has license to disrupt the shape of the side by playing anywhere he wants for 90 minutes. he was meant to be playing behind Torres yesterday but due to his frustrations he ended up collecting the ball from our centre halves.

carra was the natural leader about 2-3 years ago but his form is rapidly on the decline now and you can argue that he shouldn't even be a first team regular anymore.

because we need center halfs who have the ability to start the play from the back, and we don't have any, Carragher, Skrtel and The Greek love to hoof the ball forward. Agger is the only one who can play it on the ground and start it from the back. Thats prob why Gerrard was so frustrated.

mereiles can do that job collecting the ball off the back four imo.

Put it this way, IMHO the two best 'leaders' we've had in the last 35 years were Emlyn and Souness.

Now you join the dots.
