So after a few months with roy, was sacking rafa - The right thing to do?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

He seemed to lose his mind when he got to the top of the legue forr the first time and his infamous "fact" rant was a sign that Ferguson had got to him, then from Alonso on it was just a car crash.

If roy doesn't work out, it just means the wrong man was appointed, but the decision to sack Benitez was spot on.

Absolutely
He had to go and he knew it. Thats why he set the inter job up while he was still here

he 'set the Inter job up while he was still here'

look mate, I've just said in another thread that maybe his time was up but for God's sake let's not talk trivial nonsense. In no way did he set the Inter job up when he was still here. IMO he was planning on still being Liverpool coach but never mind. You seem to be painting him out to be clueless and disloyal which is hugely disrespectful to any past LFC manager
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I dont want to get into an argument about respecting our manager, past or present because that counts for nothing on here.
If someone can prove that Benitez had no contact with inter and didnt set up the deal while he was here I will sincerely apologise.
As far as being clueless, I dont know if that would be a word I would use to describe him. Stubborn, pig-headed, distracted, unbending, confused would be words I would use

After his infamous "guarantee", I think he knew he'd be fired so I don't blame him if he sent out a few feelers to see what his options were.

I never really liked the guy but wouldn't blame him if he had set up a few options.

Actually Thommo, it's innocent till proven guilty. You need to prove he had contact. And not with rumors from the press and 'my friend in the know' like Lakes :D

Regardless, Rafa had to move on and he knew it.

Roy needs to take a long, hard look at himself. He needs to make his experience count for something. He does look very confused on the sidelines.

Actually I dont have to prove anything. Like everyone on here I have an opinion and like others I dont really blame Benitez if he did sort his future out while he was here.
I agree that Roy needs to sort it now. If he can.

What gets people riled up is that statement you make, which isn't a fact and yet is presented like it was the truth

If you don't bring it up in your arguments, I'm quite certain we'd be discussing moving forward.

Most of us on here agreed that Rafa had to go! thats fine, I also agree with this, but Roy isn't justifying himself to be a better replacement!!!!

Not me... well maybe on one condition, we make Kenny Dalglish director of football in charge of transfers while Rafa stays as a coach.

I think benitez was terrible in the transfer market. Wanting to get rid of aloso to PART FINANCE gareth barry should be a shooting offence.

he had to go, I cannot see how the money he spent is deemed to have been well spent by some here.

glad he is gone - don't want to see him back- ever!
