As this thread is about Roy right?

Getting docked 9 points is the equivilent of having Roy in charge for another 3 games.

Anyway the ownership/administration is more important than Roy is at the moment, first things first !!!!

Thats a good one
What will you say if we get 9 points from the next 3 games?

"it was rafa's squad"  :wwww :D

That''s a good one.  :D

We certainly had it under McCarthy, whome we played a lot better football under. Shame he was such a spineless to$$er, though. I do like Trappatoni. He's got good personallity and character and it seems to rub off on the team.

Would I have him as Liverpool manager, however? No.

no doubting trappatonis credentials,he is well qualified and accredited accordingly but i wouldnt have him as lfc manager either.
the 3.2 against russia sounded like a thriller but in fact apart from the last ten minutes it was terrible.
he takes too long to try any changes, has no plan b and is unlikely to change it for slovakia on tuesday.
he is ultra cautious and favours the long ball routine,we were behind quite early and he had lots of time to change it but kept persevering with his initial setup.ok we got a dubious pen which keane converted and that gave us momentum to press on and we scored again when he brought on long but too little too late.but apart from those ten minutes we looked like a side that should have lost 3.0.
he is like jack charlton with albeit less quality at his disposal.
he is a great manager but is more suited to international football rather than the day to day stuff of club management.

im perfectly aware what his record is but i was referring more towards his age and the impact it would have on him at 73 if he were to manage a big club like lfc.

true we are delighted with trappatoni as ireland manager and me included but that doesent mean i put the blinkers on when i watch us play.he plays a  style of football and as a manager in the public eye gets criticism its part of the parcel im afraid.
he does well with what he has available to him and we have every faith we will qualify despite the defeat to russia.

It does speak for itself Bav in terms of how unbelieveably short termist the Liverpool fan base has become.

We used to be renowned as being different, probably the most knowledgeable and least fickle of all fan groups. Unfortanately it appears that tradition has died along with everything else. Such a shame.

Hoopefully those who are going to make such decisions will be big enough to do what is clearly the right thing, and not respond to such ridiculousness.

I posted this in one of the other Roy threads but ill post here too:

Roy should be sacked.  Especially if the new owners come in.  He was appointed to "Steady the ship" until a new owner came in and he has pretty much failed in that respect.  He has actually added a couple of tonnes to the ship.

I see some people are saying "Give him time".  Give him time to do what exactly?  The tactics and the football are dreadful and he has admitted that they won't change cos they have held him in "good stead" for 35 years.  (at small clubs).

If Roy is giving money in January, i believe that he will sign a Target man.  We play deep and narrow, with about 40 yards between the midfield and Torres.  A target man will be signed to hold the ball up more and obviously plenty of long balls.

Is this what people really want to see any new owner investing their money on?  Surely we need to be a bit more adventurous and imaginative if we plan on challenging for the title in the next few years.

You did post it on the other thread. I read it there. I even re-read it here to see if there was any way I could alter my orignial impression. I couldn't. I tried, God knows I tried, but I couldn't.

At Fulham, he played with two wide men in Damien Duff and Simon Davies. They played neat passing football. Playing a target man doesn't mean you play with a 40 yard gap in between midfield and attack, it means the opposite in most cases. Usually, you also NEED wide players to get crosses in for said striker. Playing narrow with a target man is and always will be madness.

I can only think that you haven't thought through your prediction of how we will play. Perhaps you could give us an example of a team which plays something like the way you describe? My guess is you won't be able to.

Huh did you see them at Anfield neat passing football ???

It doesnt matter how Fulham played they won one away game last season, and for that reason alone he should not have got the job.

His tactics wont work here we expect to win games where as his mentality is dont get beat throw everything at getting a draw.

Well he has to go for it now, ecspecially if we get docked 9 points he has no choice.

Discussing the style of football when discussing a new manager is pretty pointless anyway imo. The board will look at the potential manager's CV and base their decision on what that manager has achieved rather than how that manager achieved it.
