Therefore when any manager takes over a new club he has to suss out what goes on there. Dressing room, board room, ground staff, training ground staff, tea ladies and of course supporters. It is inrealistic for anyone to simply fit in and understand the subtleties of a particular club immediately because there is so much to learn, as well as the duties as a manager dont forget.
Roy has made some mistakes thus far, not just on the pitch but in the media. But that should not distract us from the fact that he is the manager of LFC and should be treated as such.
I will say again. If he fails, we fail.

I completely agree, there is no way that Roy would've been completely prepared. But even last season i saw Fulham play really good, attacking english football and i just wonder why such a dramatic change when taken to a new club, I think he has to put his own personal flavour on our playing style and we're not seeing that, we're just seeing the faults of last season.

I honestly think he is still sussing things out and is trying (not very well) to set us up not to be defeated. I hope he will come to the realistaion very soon that the fans would rather we played attacking, creative, exciting football. Even if we get beat lets go down fighting.
If he doesnt realise this soon we will be in danger of struggling to get a draw never mind a win.

I know, its was a weird experience watching us play against sunderland for me. This is going to sound odd, but the first 5 minutes i was really hopeful, we were stringing the passes together, we looked sharp, Torres should've had a goal, we eventually did score and i just thought to myself "This could be a massive scoreline". Then slowly thoughout the match we just seemed to hermit more and more right up until the final 15 minutes where we again looked a much better side. Strange times these  :(

The last manager has run the club into the ground. Roy has little to work with.

Alonso and Rafa are gone now... time to move on.  Roy has a lot more to work with than he did with Fulham or any Swedish side.

Yes Rafa wasted money, i can't deny that.  But lets place the blame were it really lies, with the owners.  If they had of ever invested in the squad, we would of had Barry and Alonso.  Sell to buy is a policy that will only ever lead to failure.

Bear in mind Aquilani can't even make the Juventus team at the moment either.

Roy Hodgson insists it was always going to take time for Liverpool to find their feet this season.

The Reds have endured a turbulent opening to the 2010/11 campaign, on and off the field.

Only six points have been accrued from as many games in the Premier League, while a Carling Cup humbling by Northampton  has done little for collective confidence.

Ownership issues also continue to hang over Anfield, with a protest against American co-owners George Gillett  and Tom Hicks  staged by supporters following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sunderland.

Hodgson,  who inherited the reins from Rafa Benitez over the summer, admits the situation on Merseyside is far from ideal, but claims such events were always likely to hinder his cause.

"The players are trying to come to terms with the enormous expectation here," he said.

"That, at the moment, is our major problem. Everything is very new; there are a lot of new players, uncertainty over the ownership of the club and the minute you are not top of the table after five or six games, people are saying this is not good enough.

"I am not saying it is good enough but I am saying this is something that could have been predicted."

Meanwhile, Hodgson has defended Fernando Torres' indifferent form, claiming the Spaniard is edging back towards his best following a hectic summer.

"The Fernando Torres  you saw today was much, much different to the Fernando Torres you saw in the opening couple of games," he said following the Sunderland stalemate.
"People wanted to see the very best of him from the moment he stepped back on the field after the World Cup but the point is he needs time, he needs games."

Dont like to see this.  Its comes across as excuses and passing the buck.

I dont care what side of the fence you sit on, Im absolutely sick to death of Rafa Benitez being dragged into every f*cking argument going, the polarized arguments are getting laughable. You'd be led to believe that he was either the greatest thing ever to happen or the total destroyer of LFC depending on who you ask ffs! Tell Tomkins to drop it and all, Rafas gone focus on the current regime, there is definitely plenty to write about there at the moment with the dreck being dished!

I would like to know which players are only now coming to terms with the expectations ?! The guys at the club already should know full well what the expectations are and guys joining the club mist surely realise the club has high expectations . He is right thou when he says that our start is something that could of been predicted - unfortunately some did predict the style of play and did predict that results wouldn't be good .

Ah the old "we told you so" post, never fails.

On a more sensible note, Roy is telling it exactly like it is as far as the expectations are concerned. Only a fool would have expected us to rip it up given that we played Birmingham away (unbeaten for a year), Man City away (probable challengers for the title), Man Utd away (challengers for the title) in our first six matches. Check out our home games too, Arsenal (probable challengers for the title), Sunderland (probable top 10) and West Brom (won at the Emirates over the weekend and have beaten Spurs at Home).

Not a gimme amongst them, but I remain confident that if the fans get behind Roy and the team, good things will ensue.

Did you expect us to have only 6 points after 6 games , be currently 16th in the table and knocked out of CC by a team currently in the bottom half of the lowest division in the league

Taking all things into consideration I would have expected maybe two more points which would have taken us to 9th or 10th.
I might well have expected us to be out of the league cup because its not as high on the list as the pl, fa cup(?) and europa.
Disappointing but realistic
