This is key for me and has bugged me all week. I know when asked the question he only has a split second to think about the answer but imo Roy needs to find the right balance of not creating unnecessary conflict but standing firm. and not be so nice to that red nosed c_unt!

Well in there Roy lad, done us proud......

"Hodgson took exception to Fernando Torres being labelled a cheat by Sir Alex Ferguson, after last Sunday's 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford, and insisted any acusations of diving should have been levelled at Manchester United winger Nani.

'Alex knows how to use the media, and he might well have used it there to deflect from Nani, who was certainly playing for fouls on one or two occasions,' he said. 'Fernando has proved time and again that he is no cheat. He is strong and takes players on, and he is going to get fouls, like for the stonewall penalty and free-kick that brought us an equaliser.
'Maybe I should have spoken up straight after the game, but I didn't think it was necessary, because it would have been insulting people's intelligence. For me, it was one of Alex's inflammatory little digs to make his victory even sweeter and our defeat even harder.' "

Who was it who said we can't possibly do worse than last season? If we keep Roy for the whole season I think it's very possible we will end up in the bottom half of the table.

IMO Once the ownership situation is sorted we should get rid of Roy asap. We only gave him a 2 or 3 year contract so his pay off shouldn't be too much.

Thommos Perm, we've looked sh!te from day one, fact. dont say that people are wrong to criticise Roy because right now they're spot on mate.

seems to me you're determined to show that sacking Rafa was a good idea. I've brought it up I know but thats how it comes off. How anyone can defend our current performances and results is insane

agreed, we needed a change, but not from bad to worse. there's just no direction at all and the players arent putting any pressure on the oppo.

I will admit we cant keep blaming Rafa for poor performances even though he has left us in a terrible state. But what I saw of the match today (laptop froze after Gerrards goal) in the first half we played like a bunch of strangers. They eventually picked up after bents second goal and from what I heard on ssn we should have won.
I cant excuse when we play sh'ite but I cant critisize the manager totaly when the players performed like they did for the first hour. Fu*king woeful
Thankfully on a positive note we got a point and moved up to 15th

I wondered how the whole fecking board was enjoying themselves after the performance we had today. Might be a good idea to have Kenny to become the interim manager whom I think can inspire the players to play at their capability. We need a damn motivator. Once Kenny takes it up, can review it when we have the new owner or review at the end of the season. Woy is not right for us, I mean his tactics, system and selection are all wrong.

So if his tactics are no different than the previous manager, did Benitez have a small club mentaliy too?

His tactics are different in midfield though.

Rafa had a high energy midfield constantly pressing and closing down.

Roy almost invites them to play football as they want. No closing down, no energy.

It's not just the tactics it's the attitude towards these games.  The comments after the result today.  The comments after the Birmingham game.  Liverpool FC should not be pleased to avoid defeat v these teams.

leave Rafa out lad

you're determined to use him as a yardstick arent ya?

lets put it this way - there were countless discussions over whether Rafa should stay or go last season. A vast majority of those who wanted him to stay wanted so because of the politics at the club. They were fully aware that we couldnt afford someone better so what was the point. Obviously there were many other reasons but it was certainly my main one

you ignored that and seemed confident in the fact that someone better would be found and you were determined to be able to say I told you so at the end. Its looking wobbly now and now you're digging at Rafa to show that Hodgy isn't 'that bad' while not acknowledging the fact he's been gash

thats my take on what your posts have been suggesting anyway

It does seem like Roy is a too used of managing Fulham where he didn't have this kind of pressure. We have to play 4-4-2 versus Blackpool. Play Torres AND Ngog up front. Ngog is on form, he has to play.

The best sides typically play a high line and press well into the opponents half and that makes it possible to apply sustained pressure. If the defence is set too far back, there's a lag in the middle and that makes it difficult to compress the play higher up the park. Unless we resolve this there's no way we'll finish top four.
