Doesn't sit well with me to be honest, while's he our manager he deserves to be treated with respect, in the same way Rafa did.

There's a few good Liverpool fans embarrassing themselves tonight.

It's all tongue in cheek mate but to be honest I think the manager has embarrassed himself tonight with those comments. Hate to say it but reading him say that reminds me of Fergus making similar comments about their own protesters last year. I've only skimmed through these last few pages so not sure if that's already been mentioned.

Silly comment to make though still. Opinion was and still is split on him and I don't think these comments would have won him any new fans, probably the opposite.

If he thought he was finding it hard to gain the trust of the fanbase before this ,well he hasn't done himself any favours . He new what he was saying and he shouldn't have said it , he's made a mistake and that's it . We'll see !!!!

Doesnt sit very well with me either

Im didnt want to see Rafa go and Roy wouldnt have been my choice. Nor am I  happy with the start or the managers comments in regards to the protest.

However he is  the Liverpool manager and that position while not above critique certainly deserves respect

Feck that they want him to stay they love him infact.

Do you know what Bill Shanklys grandson said today when he went to the pub last night he knew people where waiting to take the p!ss over the Northampton match but what hurt him most where Fulham fans laughing at him.

I think that says it all.

Can you show us the evidence where 75% of fans didnt want Roy as the manager?
Cheers babe

???  where does it say 75% in this quote?

Compare and contrast

"lets hope they dont put 6 past us". City

What do you make of Fergusson branding Torres a cheat Roy? "Im not getting involved" Cause he's part of arl p!ssy kecks's wine club.

"Northampton Formiddable opponents"

This man must be turning in his grave.

Add to that list the most recent laughable comment of the "famous victory over Trabzenspor" in the Europa League.

Super! When's the DVD out, then?

irregardless of whether or not he is accomplished enough, Roy is our manager and that position he is in demands respect automatically i feel.

he should stop being so media friendly. i reckon he is too naive and the media can easily spin his words and make it look like he may be saying something bad when it was not his intention to do so. and as a result, the wrong signals are sent out sometimes. if he wants to entertain the media then stop being nice or making jokes about not losing 6-0.

having said that, he is in a difficult position as he is caught out in the middle of a war between fans, and his employers. its nice to see the players enjoying themselves during training. i remember one of them (Agger i think) commenting on how the training ground is a happier place now. its good to see that, now bring the new-found optimism onto the field and produce positive results please :buttrock

Reg if you crack the code and find out Rafa's reign was undermined by a secret Vatican cult and that Hicks was seen talking to albino monk.

Dear roy,

First off shut your mouth about SOS, secondly get your own house in order, After midweek i doubt even the planned pitch protest would have had any affect on the players. So to say that an after game sit in will effect them is a joke.

Still roy wanting  new owners is like a turkey wanting xmas to come.

Also, I'm still to be convinced that Roy was actually referring to the planned protest in that Mirror article. They inserted (the protest) themselves but if you were to substitute "the ownership situation" (the subject he addresses from the beginning) it appears to make a lot more sense. For instance he refers to the "period the club is in" and that it "tests our mettle, strength, and desire". He also says he's had to "..live with it since I came here." - well he hasn't had to live with any protests such as the one planned for tomorrow since he came here, whereas the ownership situation has persisted.

Guys the above is bang on, if you take out the media inserted part (the protest) Roy is simply talking about the situation of having warring fractions at the club. We all know how much they love to stir things up so let's not bite without hearing the full interview.

Roy has backed Torres in todays Star and stated he feels fergie was using the media to deflect attention away from Nani - who he felt had been guilty of diving a couple of times in the match.

I am desperate for him (Roy) to succeed so i can stick 2 fingers up to all of the people that are giving him stick already.

You are all major hypocrits, a bad word couldnt be said about our last manager and to be honest that's fair enough.
How about giving the new one some respect and support ?

He has openly stated when he arrived that the owners need to go.
What do you want him to do ? Say it in every interview ?
I agree his comments yesterday could have been chosen better but dont for one minute think that he is happy with the ownership situation.

The people that are not behind him are trying to attempt to use this as a reason to get on his back and put more pressure on him.

Absolute feckin joke

EDS BOSS: WE MUST LIVE WITH PROTESTS
    Posted 24/09/10 13:23EmailPrintSave

    Liverpool 2/5, Draw 10/3, Sunderland 15/2
A sit-in protest planned by Liverpool fans unhappy with owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett is just something else for the club to deal with, according to manager Roy Hodgson.

With the Americans' loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland due for refinancing or repayment next month and no sign of an imminent sale supporters are stepping up their campaign to oust the unpopular pair.

The latest plan is to get the crowd at Saturday's game against Sunderland to remain behind to demonstrate peacefully after the final whistle
"I, like anyone at Liverpool Football Club, would be very happy if the ownership situation got clarified, and in particular if we got a very good owner that can help us move forward," said Hodgson.

"It (the protest) doesn't help but is something I've had to live with since I came to the club.

"It is a major issue for a group of people who are very much anti the owners and the current people who are trying to solve the situation.

"It is often the case that when things are conspiring against you there is always an extra thing to come in and make it that little bit worse.

"It tests our mettle, our desire and strength. I am very confident the strength of this club, the strength of the playing staff and the people around me is more than enough for the club to come through this period.

"But while you are in that period it is unpleasant."

A statement from the Liverpool Supporters' Union and Spirit of Shankly group said: "We have given time to those in charge and listened to more empty promises.

"Now we are demanding results, and action will continue for as long as the situation remains unacceptable to us as fans of Liverpool Football Club"

Sorry but I think youve got it all wrong

"I, like anyone at Liverpool Football Club, would be very happy if the ownership situation got clarified, and in particular if we got a very good owner that can help us move forward," said Hodgson.
He wants the yanks to fu'ck off. Hes said it before

"It (the protest) doesn't help but is something I've had to live with since I came to the club."
We all have. It wont help if it distracts the players and we lose. That is the gamble the protesters are willing to take.

"It is a major issue for a group of people who are very much anti the owners and the current people who are trying to solve the situation."
The people who will protest will be a group who are strongly against the yanks and want to show it publicly. Other groups will go the pub or the chippy. Other groups will go home.

"It is often the case that when things are conspiring against you there is always an extra thing to come in and make it that little bit worse."
It could be argued that this couldnt have come at a worse time. We desperately need points and a change in fortune. The players and the manager need to totally focus on winning but they cant because they will be asked about the protest.

"It tests our mettle, our desire and strength. I am very confident the strength of this club, the strength of the playing staff and the people around me is more than enough for the club to come through this period."
It is something we could do without as we have a hard enough job as it is. However it is necessary if we want to make our feelings known. Hopefully the players will have the strength to pull through and get us back up the table.

"But while you are in that period it is unpleasant."
The whole thing is unpleasant for everyone. Who would have thought when the cu'nts took over that it would come to this?
Moores and Parry should hang heir heads in shame for what they have done to this club.

If you are looking to rip into the manager at every available opportunity then that statement is proof of his arrogance, insensitivity and ignorance. If, however, you can be level headed and try to understand where hes coming from, it looks like hes being honest, sympathetic and realistic.

Hodgsons just saying that thy would sooner today be just about the game and concentrate on that but ofourse we have the protest. He hasnt said there shouldnt be protest just that the day would be easier without it. To be honest I think the protest should be on the pitch let alone in the stands but thats just me because sometimes you have to cross a line to make a point and the softer approach to protest has largely fallen on deaf ears. Anyways, here hoping the lads come out all guns blazing and give Sunderland a good hiding and the protest is well supported and makes its mark.
