Here you are:

"One fan asked if it was true that when we met the manager Rafael Benitez had asked us not to protest during the game; Paul confirmed Benitez had asked us to consider whether we should protest during the game as he felt it could affect the players. Benitez was told we respect his opinion, but any decision would be down to the members."

Maybe Roy feels the same.

Not to deminish the point you're making, but it can be argued that the difference in the situation between then and now is more critical. There's no doubt a protest is a distraction to the players, but it's now a necessary evil in the current light of things, and to be critical in any way towards it is to make light of what the supporters are trying to achieve here. This needs to be done. Now.

So Rafa was wrong and so is Roy.....the fans have a right to protest, because the yanks are still here.it's that simple!

if he's worried about it affecting the players,he should maybe worry more about how he's affecting them himself(going purely on our start to the season I mean)

Get a grip will ya people. Talk about over reacting to one sentence. He's the manager, he's having a :censored: start and he's probably trying to focus on the job at hand. I doubt the off the pitch stuff is helping. He was never likely to scream 'I'm with you comrades! me and the team will sit ourselves in the centre-circle for the duration of the protest!'.

Sometimes the leftie-uproar in this place is all a bit O.T.T!

I don't think Roy was even being critical though, I really don't. He said "it doesn't make it any easier" and it doesn't. Classic mountain and molehill stuff this. By all means get on his case because we are playing sh!t, but to me this is just a none story. The fella has said countless times that the club needs new owners, he actually shocked us by unequivical he was on that a couple of weeks after getting the job.

I've mentioned it a few times, but I also think Roy deserves some credit to be honest for not taking the easy way out and giving it all the solidarity with SOS stuff. He knows many of the fans don't like him, and it must be unbelieveably tempting to try and weedle his way in by playing to the masses, but he's steadfastly refusing to do that. Indeed after this latest defeat when asked about the owners, he finished off the bit when he said we need new ones (again) by saying "but I don't want to hide behind that".

It takes a strong man to stand where he is and take the flak he's getting, and I don't blame him for getting annoyed. Hopefully he can pass some of that annoyance and anger onto the players and get a of a seige mentality going.

And as i said before Mick he took the job knowing all of this about the owners. He knew what they were down to,

And as far as taking any flak hes had no flak at the match whatsoever,
HE WHO BETRAYS WILL ALWAYS WALK ALONE

No uproar and not OTT,I don't think so anyway mate!
He could have said nothing....simply refused to comment, said" I prefer to talk about the football side of things" so easy to do.
Especially given the fact we are 16th and out of the League cup by a team that only won 1 in 7 in the 4th division until they beat us.

I think people will give him a chance(I surely will) I feel a bit sorry for him and I just don't think he thought the magnitude of the job through before he grabbed it.Liverpool is not just a normal club.We are in a huge mess and it's gonna take a special man to guide us out of it as well as new owners.

As for players being affected as others have mentioned....the players are well and truley affected by something..........they need to buck their acts up too, starting tomorrow!

He wasn't making light of what the fans are trying to achieve, though. He was simply saying that this kind of thing doesn't help in his quest to improve the fortunes of the team. He wants the team to do well, he wants to see new owners come in. There are no conflicting aims here.

Can people stop going on about the fact we are 16th in the league ( Barry im including you in this! :D ).  If we are 16th in the league in January then by all means go mental, i will be joining you, but the reality is that we are three points from fourth. If we beat Sunderland and City lose to Chelsea then we are on the same points as them and they are supposedly certs for CL qualification this season
