  If that was true Roy wouldnt have said he was happy with the players he has.

Your right about the too dangerous bit though !

i think you all should meet up in a big room and discuss it like "adults" but should that fail then just go hammer and thong at it and post the results back here cos at least that would be worth reading.:D

Well after last season (sorry to harp back to that) but we saw too many false dawns, too many turning the corners and too many of 'our season stars here' come February. And last nights win will be a morale boost which hopefully Roy can build on from, though with the Mancs up next any momentum could be halted rather quickly. We haven't had Cole, Meireles, Gerrard Torres et al playing together so even if these four play on sunday it could still be disjointed and lacking. I have a feeling Meireles will start as sub but I hope I'm wrong as I think he's going to offer us a more dynamic aspect to our midfield game (reminds me a tad of that German fella - Muller).

I noticed last night after we scored the second goal (the camera panned to dodgy Hodgy) and he was telling (i think) the lads to push on more for another five minutes. I think he was telling the lads to 'go for the kill' which for me was a little bit of a relief after all the jargon that's been spoken of him, could you imagine Rafa telling the players to push on like that I fecking couldn't. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come (yippee) and I honestly do not believe Roy is a long ball merchant either I'm convinced he likes his players (ability permitting) to play the ball on the deck by.

The result of last night has buoyed me a little (and I'm not getting carried away cause I know things in football can change very quickly in football) but even the line-up he put out; giving the likes of Spearing, Kelly and Pacheco (sub) a chance is something that never seemed genuine under Rafa, more tokenistic IMHO. I personally thought the manager got an extra 10% out of Ryan Babel last night, the Dutchman has never really looked 'fired up' before and even though he has a footballing brain of a garden pea the lad did at last show a bit of enthusiasm and desire- a sign IMHO of good man-management taking place. Oh and one last point, he couldn't have picked a more deserving captain for our team last night!

PS, Roy set a new European record for us last night as well.  :buttrock

well donE Roy good call, with so many games in the EL we need to keep our eyes on the real deal.....that being the Prem.

he knows how are it is in the EL and still to play games in the prem, he did it last year and the results in the prem did slip.

with us this year it should all be about the prem and the FA cup.

back to basics

Sunday is going to be the acid test - was good last night to get a confidence boosting win going into the game against the mancs . Get the right set up for Sunday and we can get a win there , hopefully Meireles will play and Poulsen nowhere near the line up , get service to Torres and watch him rip Vidic apart again , Cole to exploit the gaps , Gerrard to run the centre off the park , maxi and Johnson to control Evra and Nani or Giggs and Konchesky and Jovanovic to be solid on the left - deny Rooney the space and we can win . Hopefully we can have a better first half than we have seen this season and sneak an early goal .

Well I'm firmly in the "lets not get carried away" camp. I think Benny is overly optimistic when he talks about us winning at Old Trafford as if we have a really good chance of doing so, we are definately strong outsiders and rightly so. I also think In and Out and Lakes are being probably a little gung-ho on the Roy praise (not that I don't understand them wanting to balance the unbelieveable negativity on here) after last nights result. They weren't a top team, and lets face it we were second best first half. Even in the second half although we overpowered them, we needed a dodgy pen and a bit of a one in a mill goal from Lucas.

No, as I've said a few times now, it's fairly obvious that we are still playing just as poorly as we did for much of last season. I do think we'll improve given time and once the players have got used to what Roy wants, but at the moment we go to places like Old Trafford crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.

What I would say about the set up is that IMHO we are going to  have to score at least once to get anything out of it, and we should set up accordingly. Also, I really would consider playing the Greek purely for his prowess defending set pieces. Vidic in particular is very dangerous with good delivery, which they normally get.

All in all though I must confess I'm not massively hopeful for this one. I'd bite yer arm off at the elbow here and now for a point.

I will very grudgingly take a close defeat on sunday as long as we have a good performance and noticable improvement

Geez thanks for remembering me Mick. I really do feel appreciated.  :glare:

Glad to see that you are starting to see not all is rosy though. That's a start to the reconciliation process.  :D

Is anyone else enjoying the way Roy is conducting himself in the press conferences? I was just watching the latest one on BBC's website about Sundays game and there's something strangely reassuring about having someone who can string a few sentences together and what I would call a little bit old school.

I found myself laughing at Graham Taylor on Thursday when he heard about Babbel tweeting that he had done extra training on his day off. Oh he tweeted that to the world did he?? was the question.....I was waiting for 'Do I not like that!'  :D  but it never came.

I'm not comparing the 2 managers, but you do get the sense of old skool no BS appearing around the club again....no more primadonnas, this is Anfield thank you very much....bigger than anyone single one of you and don't you forget it  :D
