The truth is many here would do the same thing were they in his shoes...

Why would u want to continue using a player who had long expressed a desire to leave and wait to sell him at the last minute?

..because 1. we paid a lot of money for him when he wasn't even in the West Ham team. and, 2. we were paying him a huge amount of money to play for us as per his contract!

Sorry but he deserves no place in our history, i've lost all respect for the lying little rat!

Glad he's fuc.ked off to Barcelona and i hope Jose wins everything with Real Madrid!!

He's an idiot and a disgrace to what was a good player.

He moved to Barca because he wanted more money and to win.  Well good luck consistently breaking that line-up

i wouldn't blame him for wanting to win but there's a proper way to go about these things, and a way to act afterwards. He's got both wrong!!

A couple of issues:

1) He wanted to leave us the season after we finished within a whisker of winning the league according to this account.  Yeah, so did Alonso but he had a clear-cut reason for that whereas Masch seems to have just decided he'd rather up sticks to treble-winners Barcelona than help us take that last step.  Mercenary.

2) He claims he was promised a transfer if a proper offer came in.  Well, sorry Masch, but 12 million pounds or whatever Barca first proposed was not a proper offer.  That's why negotiations dragged out.  It's hardly that Liverpool were "liars"--they did the sensible thing and refused to sell until an improved offer came in.  You did, after all, sign a contract.

A sheister and a mercenary. Perhaps those who claimed otherwise last week will now begin to see the error of their ways.

correct.

This guy makes Owen look like dignified in the way he departed the club.

Quality player and we're weaker without him.

A footballer taking a paycut, that's refreshing.

I agree with St John. He is a dirty player and not half the player McMahon was and didn't look as if he enjoyed wearing the red shirt. So first it was because of his family and not the club now it's something different.

The same newspaper that has reported Mascherano is blaming broken promises is the same newspaper that reported on August 12th that Mascherano wanted to leave because of the country issue as above. He really is nothing more than a turncoat. I wish we'd never signed him he's not a professional just a little s****** good riddance to bad rubbish!
