I think you're misinterpreting, mate. Sending him out on loan to Italy is a clear as day message that Hodgson doesn't think he's good enough and that he hopes to recoup at least some reasonable money for him come January or next summer rather than sell him for veritable peanuts now. All of this stuff about farming him out to get some regular football and expecting he'll come back to Liverpool and perform for us is just a huge smokescreen. Bottom line: Hodgson doesn't rate him and is putting him in the shop window in a league where he has a chance of getting us some cash back if he has a good season.

Rafa knew that Aqualani needed a full pre-season's training this summer in order to play regularly at the top of his game this season, something he didn't have last season hence the number of bench games he had last season. In addition Benitez was the one who spent £20 million on Aquilani and after the Keane disaster he wouldn't have got rid quite as quickly as Hodgson has.

i don't agree. Rafa only used him against average opposition last season when he was fit and i think he would have shipped him out this summer anyway. As i said, like Keane, this transfer was a fecking disaster.

A loan is the only option...either that or sell him for 6 million, which is all he's worth due to his injury record. However, i agree he wont play for Lfc again, but that's not a bad thing.

i never heard any little preck like u talk so much sh!ite in all my life. Was it aquas fault rafa bought him when he was injured. And 2 how do u know he wouldnt of been a success this season when he hasnt been given a fecking chance u di!ck.

Rocky your just a complete Moan. All you do is slag off posters and talk about how much you love Aquilani blah blah.......

Aquilani has done nothing to merit his Multi-million pound price tag, and fair to play to Roy for shipping him out.

The club are letting Juventus pay his silly wages cos they know they aint gonna get even half the money back that they spent on him if they were to sell him now. So it s better he's on their payroll, than on ours.

Now go take your Aquilani posters down off your wall. He aint playing for Lpool no more....

That's not entirely true. Aquilani played 76 minutes against Chelsea at home last season and 88 minutes in the second leg semi-final against Athletico Madrid.

I don't agree about Benitez selling him. There was press talk in May just before the world cup that Aquilani would be going but the only paper that probably had it right was The Times who said he wouldn't be sold. I just don't think Benitez would have taken such a loss on him within 12 months.

It's a pity Hodgson can't come out and say that he prefers Poulsen to Aquilani rather than this pretence that he'll resume his Anfield career after a season in Turin.

This is a ridiculous decision Aquas a brillant player anyone could see that last season when he did player. What abaout playing him behind Torres with Jovanovic and cole coming in fron the wings?

That looks pretty good 2 me. When he started 2 feature at the tail end of the season we keep the ball better, he linked up well with Torres and Gerrard as all quality players do and he scored afew. I cant believe hes not being given a chance. Waste of a good talent

Probably the option to sell came up short of valuation so they thought loaning him out was next best option. For me the next best option is to make use of him, but it looks like we may end up with Poulsen, Lucas AND Mascherano and I'd rather give Aquilani a chance in midfield than two from that lot.

Could be another long season, can't see these forums getting any less heated with the usual lack of tolerance for other people's opinions followed by abuse.

squad depth has been a supposed problem for us....and Aquilani is talented. thought he showed that towards the end of last season. Gerrard/Cole are injury prone and Pacheco is inexperienced. granted he's not guaranteed starting line up everygame if Roy thinks so, but why not give him an actual run and see what he can do? then loan him in January or whatever if he's still not good enough.

just disappointed he isnt gonna be given a chance after finally being fit.....or if he doesn't want to even fight for his place then im disappointed in him.

maybe Roy wants his own stamp on the team. Maybe Aquilani just isnt as good as we hoped. Its a shame either way.
