I think you're misinterpreting, mate. Sending him out on loan to Italy is a clear as day message that Hodgson doesn't think he's good enough and that he hopes to recoup at least some reasonable money for him come January or next summer rather than sell him for veritable peanuts now. All of this stuff about farming him out to get some regular football and expecting he'll come back to Liverpool and perform for us is just a huge smokescreen. Bottom line: Hodgson doesn't rate him and is putting him in the shop window in a league where he has a chance of getting us some cash back if he has a good season.
