What the heck?? What game were you watching  :D

Lucas was sh!te, Poulson was good.

His passing was good, what makes you say it was awful? I only recall him having two misplaced passes and they were forward balls at least.

You say if Mascha goes our midfield wont be creative enough?? Yeah because mascherano is realllly creative isnt he

Well seems i must of watched a different game then and we will agree to disagree .

Let me translate this post with more common sense approach . Hope Benny learns something -

"Poulsen IMO last night provided us with something that we don't already have - a solid cover for Masch. He looked better than Lucas and his passing was tidy  last night once he settled after first few minutes and his tackling bar one was neat and accurate , he did get forward a few times and was unlucky with the disallowed goal. He is much better than Lucas IMO and I believe even if Aquilani go, our midfield will require Poulsen for balance and if Masher does go then our midfield will not be good enough and certainly not strong enough to handle our strong and physical league. Hoping he does get better and better with more games  and at the moment i certainly want to see him starting a prem game in the absence of Masch - he certainly won't let the game pass him by ."

Welcome to the forum mate, you talk a lot more sense than some of the 'regulars' on here, keep it up.  :)

I thought Poulsen was good yesterday, not the creative or whatever you call type, but tidy and solid and better than Lucas when it comes to keeping possession

I thought Poulson in the first half if I was searching for a word I would say  shabby.... he struggled  to provide any real contribution ,his movement was laboured and his passes rarely found their intended targets ... but I put this down to a bedding in period and considering this was his first competitive game with new team mates ,the above comments can to a certain degree  be discounted .
The second half saw Poulson play a more intelligent game ,and some of his movement became more incisive ,he broke up play with an efficiency we used to associate Didi with, and his distribution became a key part of the game ...and he began settling into his role with much more success
That said I suppose you could say no Liverpool player exactly covered themselves in glory in the game .... it was a sorry affair best forgotten
Roll on Monday when we visit the Eastlands lets hope its a much more cohesive team that takes to the pitch

a genuine game of two halves for poulsen last night. the first half he was absolutely awful, way off the pace and very sloppy. second half he came and put in a pretty solid performance i thought, not setting the world on fire but certainly doing his job. its nice to see a defensive mid that doesn't get a nosebleed every time he approaches the opponents box as well.

I agree with Andy that he was way off with his passing in the first half but solid in the second half without setting the world on fire. It wasn't much of a test and we'll have to wait and see before we can call him a "waste of money" or a "dazzling success", or more likely somewhere in between, but I believe he'll be better than Lucas, which is the minimum I would expect.

He was ok and given that it was his debut did enough to suggest that there's more to come from him. For sure some of his passing wasn't great and his control let him down in one counter but to judge him purely on last night is a mistake. While he is similar to Lucas in terms of his passing in terms of his physical prescence I think he'll be able to hold his own better than Lucas in the premiership.

Not a bad display to say he's only played 20 minutes of a pre-season friendly since the World Cup prior to last night's game.

Far too early to write him off. He looks a fairly cultured player to me who was looking for (if not always managing to execute) a good, simple pass. It would appear that he's more creative than Mascher and more sensible than Lucas.

Until we've seen him a few times I think it's unfair to be critical.

A game of two halves for him (excuse the clique), First half he looked pretty disastrous and the 2nd half, the complete opposite. You kinda knew with so little pre-season he was going to struggle anyway, but felt he really blossomed into his red shirt in the last 45 mins. Going to be a stellar signing  :nod

You're going to like that player Lando, he's a good one.
