From listening to Hodgson on SSN the loan would be to a club where he would be a 1st team regular with the intention of him getting alot of playing time this season then returning next year fully recharged and looking sharp

Shouldnt Lucas be the one sent packing ?

I don't honestly know what managers see in Lucas that we don't.  As you say, Lucas is not great at defending or attacking.  Poulsen, gerrard, masch and aqua would be good to have.

Last night Lucas could hardly make a decent pass all night, and at the other end he was conceding some sloppy free kicks.

We've had problems breaking down teams in the past and getting rid of 2 of our more creative options won't change that.

I don't believe our current manager sees much in Lucas like our old one did. Good news if you ask me.
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

Loan is pointless, if we are getting rid then sell - as benny said.

His value is just going to decrease, he might get injured and he will probably prefer to stay in Italy than move back here.

it seems weird to me to just offload someone with as much potential as him......maybe there's a good replacement lined up already, possible something to do with the Kuyt to inter transfer either using the money or getting an attacking player from them.......can't quite work this one out

Why does Roy want to sell Aquilani? My last 2 posts both have me questioning Roy. Not good.

Again Calum, not too sure to be honest.  I personally think our Midfield would be more balanced with him in the squad.

maybe he has plans to bring someone in.  (i can only hope)
He actually wants to send Aqua on loan.

Benitez's big mistake last summer was not having a fit replacement for Alonso. Now that his replacemnt is now fully fit, he is out of favour. So who is Alonso's replacement's replacement? This works out we will STILL be without a replacement for Alonso. Unless he has someone lined up, which I find unlikely. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing N'Zogbia arrive if Aquilani leaves.

Aquilani is going to Juventus, and there will be an option to buy clause in the loan as well, Juve will confirm the news either today evening or this weekend

It's wrong - we need a replacement but because it's a loan we now have no funds to purchase one - I'm amazed at this deal and not in a good way. We loose gerrard and we have no creativity, we loose Torres and we have no true goal threat- we gotta hope both those get trough the season without any injuries

I think Rafa knew he had made a major mistake last season and now Roy has Realised this too. There is something that is obviosly standing out in training. What a frigging waste of money

20m keane
20m Aqua
11m babel = 50m worth of sh!te!!

We were saying exactly the same thing a year ago, hoping nobody gets injured. And look what happened. There will be the same amount of injuries again this season. I'm afraid also it will mean finishing in the league around the same position. Not pessimistic, just realistic. Unless Roy gets in a creative midfielder and a goalscorer before the end of the month.
