ALBERTO AQUILANI - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I don’t agree with it either but I can see why.

I think it’s because he really needs a full season of regular first team football.

Our first 11 midfield 5 is:

Masherano, Gerrard, Cole, Jovanovic, Kuyt

Back up options (excluding Aquilani):

Poulsen, Lucas, Pacheco, Babel, Maxi.

Aquilani is definitely better than some of those on the back up list, but we can not offer him enough opportunities to have a full season in the first 11 – which is what he needs.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with the loan deal, but he wont get any better sitting on the bench waiting for one of our first team to get injured.

Something doesn't seem right - all these players on decent wages leaving with cheaper versions arriving - is it all a money saving exercise cause I can't see the logic of it in a football sense . What if masher goes as well ?!

He won't have a full season of regular first team football because he will get injured again. Some players are like that. I'm sure many Liverpool fans will be keeping an eye on how many games he will be fit this season.

But you loose gerrard and you loose your creativity - he showed with his goals and assists last season when he did finally play that he could be a good player . Can understand poulsen coming in if we loose Masher but there is a creative spark missing if we loose gerrard to injury and it's happened during the last two seasons - that's without even thinking about striker options

Joe Cole is, of course, a very creative midfielder. I don't want to tempt fate by saying I hope he stays clear of injuries this season. And further suspensions.

If we add in the fact Masher and kuyt may well leave our squad is going to be very thin and very weak

Let's have a rule. Nobody leaves until there are further signings. Okay, over to you Roy...

Getting Cole was a good move followed by Gerrard and Torres commiting.
But Brad Jones... now rumours of Aqua and Kuyt leaving.

When can things go right for us!

Just what I was thinking. This decision makes no sense at all.

There is also talk about Kuyt going to Inter.

We lacked strength in depth last season and the way things are going we will be in the same situation. We can't expect to get through the whole season without injuries to key players.

For the first time and after last night's team selection Hodgson's appointment worries me. Last night Gerrard or Aquilani or Kuyt should have been on the bench. The team was changed too much last night. As far as Aquilani's future is concerned if he'd not good enough now what difference will further experience of Serie A make? It's clear that Hodgson prefers Poulsen who he knows more about than Aquilani. If Aquilani goes on loan for 8 months I can't see him returning. If it happens I think he'll have played his last game for the club.

ahaaa new sig :)

Gutted that Aquilani is going but you always have to try to take good from these things.

We will have more money to fund transfers from him leaving.

Why will we have more money? He is going onloan - no transfer fee to add to our transfer budget of Zero
