I'm sure he's keeping his head Reg while all around are losing theirs, he's our man is Roy. I'm actually quite refreshed by the way he's handling the collection of wantaways, wannabe's and never will be's that have been left behind for him to sort out. He's not moaning to the press, he's not making daft comments in the media, he's just getting on with the job.

Masherano and people of his ilk we are well rid of IMHO. He's a good player undoubtedly but only in the game for himself in my opinion. I'd be surprised if he's ever won much in his career, and even more surprised if he's overly bothered about it.

Roy just keeps on doing what he's doign though. The Deggen's, the Riera's, the Maxi Rodriguez's of this world aren't what we need. Move em out Roy, move em out.

Wher's the head scratch smiley when you need one? Didn't want to play for us? He was arguably our best player last season. How do you work that one out?

Essien and Yaya Toure.

They dont have the same Role as mascherano. They are more central midfielders that are defensive but also help in getting the ball forward. Mascherano is just all about defending.

The point is, there is no defensive mid that has as good a tackle as Mascherano. Essien and Yaya are probably better players than Mascherano, but they cant tackle as good as him.

Work what one out? He said himself he wanted away, only last summer it was Barca. What's to work out? His agent has said today that he agreed last season to give us one more year. No working out required on this one, infact I could use the headscratch smiley myself because you've baffled me with that question.

Essien would be the same mould as Mascherano but better. To even mention Yaya is taking the p*ss.

what the hell? they do have the same role as Mash. they play in midfield who are more defensive then their partners Lampard or Xavi/Iniesta. difference is, Mash is clueless when it comes to attacking. he can't start an attack. all he can do is break up play and run his mouth to the refs. he is limited and we can do with someone more capable. one doesnt need to be a defensive midfielder to know how to tackle.

Yaya Toure is overrated.

There are plenty of players that can do Mascherano's job though.

Cambiasso can do it, and is far better in possession too.
Busquets is very effective and with a few more years experience will probably be as good.
Lassana Diarra is quality in that position, he just needs to settle at a club.
Mammadou Diarra is also excellent in that position, but has had injury problems and also needs to be playing regular football somewhere.
Javier Zanetti, despite being about 40, is as good as Mascherano at holding the midfield, and again is quite creative too.
Darren Fletcher, although it pains me to say it, has done as well as Mascherano in that role over the past few seasons.  But you won't see anyone offering 25 mil for him that's for sure.
Essien is a monster in this position and a much better all round player than Mascherano.
That De Rossi or whatever he's called at Roma is a brilliant all round midfielder too.

This isn't a list of realistic targets, I'm just highlighting the fact that Mascherano is not the best in this position in the world.  There are plenty of good midfielders with the ability to hold the midfield.  There will be plenty of other players that I've forgotten about too

I said he was arguably our best player last season. I never mentioned anything to do with his mindset.

Didn;t rate him last season, you cold tell he was unhappy and wanted to leave... just my view, I do get ultra biased when a tw@t of a player we've got just keep harping on about wanting out

Do you even know what an "anchoring" role is?

Yaya? Certainly not last season..

Dude lost his place to Busquets and opted to leave to get playing time! Jeeze!
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.
