If we are going to gt over 30 million for him we should sell, he has been well below par this season and in my mind actually looks like he wants to be playing elsewhere!!

Mascherano was immense today. He is in a different class then Lucas and Aqua. With Maxi here, it might ignite him again. I think if he can pair with Maxi in the middle, we might see a effective dual. Hope Rafa will try this later.

Agreed that Masch looked good this evening, but can't say from what I saw - highlights, admittedly - that Maxi looked all that impressive...

Keep. No one does what Masch does better, and you need one dm in your team (just not necessarily two ie partnering him with Lucas).

He did proved again from yesterday's game that it's silly for people to even think about selling him for whatever reason unless he wanted a move. Agree that every team needs one DM and we already have a world class DM. Selling him for money isn't wise.

after yesterdays performance, it would be suicidal to sell him! he is so vital to our formation that he gives the likes of stevie to go foward with confidence, knowing masha is their as security. any amount of money we got anyway would just go towards paying off debts! so feck that, that's probably why Raffa hasn't sold babel yet cause he knows deep down that he wouldn't get any money for a replacement.

We all want him to stay but he already decided to go ... then let him go ... with the right price 25M to 30M ...with the money we can buy DM (Lee Cattermole)  and CM ( 2nd option ) who can pass like alonso but must be cheap someone like Michael Johnson Man City or Michael Carrick Man U .....

A player that could fit nicely is Michael Bradley from Borussia Mo'Gladbach, very adept in a holding role and offers a bit going forward.  Also no worries about the lad adjusting to the physicallity of the Prem.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

It isn't just how a player performs in the side, it is how the team performs with that player in the side and methinks the driving force in our midfield went for £30m. Maybe the fact that noone seems willing to pay £30m for Mascherano suggests other teams realise the limitations and aren't so over-impressed

I would sell him.

He doesn't offer anything against the likes of Stoke and has zero creativity. We don't need such a defensive midfielder. We need an Alonso type who can dictate play.

All depends on how we decide to line-up next season... If we continue to play 2 holding midfielders then selling him would be the way forward imo... Replace him with a decent defensive midfielder who wouldnt cost alot (heard we're linked with Poulsen of Juve again) and we are good to go...

But if we decide to play one holding midfielder alongside Aquilani or Gerrard then we need to either keep Mascherano or invest heavily on someone who has a bit of pace, can defend well and has good positioning and awareness..

30mill is alot of money though and if Roy has a couple of viable targets in mind who wouldnt cost as much then by all means get rid... He doesnt seem too interested in staying anyways... Hopefully that changes when he meets Roy upon returning from holiday...

Oh by the way, why the fck does Mascherano get to return from his break by August 5th when everyone else should be back by next week or so ?!

if Masch was to go, I feel Flamini would be a good shout... last 2 seasons at Arsenal he was a brilliant partner for Fabregas but not sure he will leave AC Milan thou.

If Masch is as gone in his own mind as people seem to think, what about a move for Sami Khedira? He was one of the most impressive players in the WC for me (pretty dire WC I know). good ball winning holding mid, composed, good in the air, hard worker and not too shabby going forward (he grabbed a goal I think). I know he wouldn't be cheap/easy to get, but hes only 22 as well, I wouldn't be upset if we got 25-30 mil for Masch and spent 18-20 on Khedira.
