He lives in one tower and I live in the other. There are 15 metres between us and we used to look at each other through the window.

Sounds like Insua is Repunzel and Masch is Cinderella (always late for the ball) in their towers. :D

I have simply NO FAITH in Rafa when comes to transfers anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if we sold Masch and then spent 20million on another crock.

Masch has wanted to leave since last summer and i'm surprised he's been convinced to stay this long. He'll be gone...i'm just hoping he'll have a good world cup and we can get 25-30 million for him.

no, there are two issues here.

1) Masch wants to leave. Maybe its his wife..maybe its the fact Barca tried to sign him last season. Either way, he wants out.

2) I don't trust Rafa to replace like for like. Just my opinon, but following the complete f*ck up with Alonso i wouldn't trust rafa to buy a round of beers, let alone world class players.

But if I remember correctly Rafa bought Torres, Alonso, Reina, Masch etc for bargain prices and they turned out to be world class....

Half of those are hardly "bargains", ie cost a fair bit but neither excessive nor "bargain"

£6m for a keeper isn't a bargain, maybe compared to Buffon, but Given cost £8m, Cech £7m and Gordon £10m which would be a British record, so Reina isn't far off what most top keepers cost in this country.

£18.6m for Mascherano is hardly a bargain either, Essien cost £24m, Hargreaves £17m and Anderson £18m so Mascherano falls in the mix, not that expensive but certainly not a "bargain".

What you (can) sell a player doesn't necessarily define them as a bargain, Anelka at £500k was a bargain, as it turned out £12.24m for Ronaldo was a bargain and I suppose you could argue Alonso was one even though £10m for a midfielder is hardly cheap even if a Spanish side were prepared to treble it. I'm not sure we have signed any true bargains, we may have done very good business in terms of sale or we could have paid a lot more for someone eg Torres, but those cost a combined £55.1m and that for four players is hardly "bargain basement"
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Well, I beg to differ.

None of those players were known as world class players before Rafa bought them.

A total cost of around 50 million for 4 promising players worth around 150 million today and known as world class for me classifies as bargains and successes.

Don't agree with this bit at all.  To me he's a top player for his role and he offers the team something very important.  With that said, I agree with your other points.  Tons of people move abroad for work and have to deal with the culture shock of living in a foreign land without a fraction of the money and support that Masch and his family get off Liverpool Football Club.  To whinge about this kind thing strikes me as petty and immature.  Now, where's Andy's f.uck football thread...  :glare:

I think he's a good ball stopper. Fine in his defensive role, but adds nothing else. Hence, I think he's a one trick pony. In fact, I think he can be a liability at times the way he charges areound the field like an idiot.

I've never grown that attached to him in his time here and I've always thought that he just isn't that smart a lad and if he wants to go, I won't be shedding any tears.

The stats also help answer a question that many at Liverpool have long been asking: what is Lucas Leiva for? The much-maligned Brazilian put in more tackles (148, winning 102) this season than all but three other players in the league – though the most prolific tackler remains his team-mate, Javier Mascherano (178, of which he won 144), ahead of Mohamed Diamé of Wigan (176, won 125) and Fabrice Muamba of Bolton (152, won 102).

There are four Liverpool players in the top 30 most frequent tacklers – more than any other team. Arsenal have only one – Alexandre Song is 23rd, having attempted 88 tackles, one fewer than Birmingham's James McFadden. You might deduce that this is because Arsenal did not need to tackle as much since they tended to have the ball a lot – and it is true that only Chelsea averaged more possession in matches (59.8% to Arsenal's 59.3%). But Liverpool averaged 59.1%. They may have had the ball at their feet quite a bit, but Liverpool also had their heads in their hands a lot – they were denied by the frame of the goal more times (20) than any other team this season.

I think he's the best defensive midfielder in the world right now.

So now Mascherano is an idiot  ??? What's up run out of derogatory names for the Manager and Lucas ?

Mascherano is an exceptional player who is possibly at present the best defensive midfielder in the world ,just how good does a Liverpool player have to be for you to shed a tear when we are threatened with losing them exactly   ???

What do mean "so now"?

I been saying for ages I think he's a bit thick...I just don't think he's that smart a lad. Hardly a first for a footballer.

...and I've never called Lucas anything but a terrible player...which is what he is...

...and Benitez brings, whatever comes his way, mostly on himself.

Get over yourself, for fuck sake.

I won't shed any tears for pussies who want out, because they can't make any friends....boohoo. To me that's bollox. He's simply looking for an out...

...he just isn't smart enough to come up with a decent excuse.

I don't blame him for wanting to go, to be honest. Liverpool under Benitez are painful to watch. I can only imagine how painful they are to actually have to play for them now.

The Spanish of these world complain us Irish and British coming to their countries and not learning their language. Mascherano's family is a cop out if thats the only reason he wants out- Id be more of the opinion that he couldn't be ar----sed staying with us w/o Champions league football. Not impressed- we looked after him when he was having his nightmare at west ham- if thats his attitude get rid of him and get some rising star in africa to do the business for half his wages. He doesnt exactly create anything- although he def is one of the best at what he does - it is hardly a rare talent.

i think you are right, in the sense it is a cop out. He's had his head turned by Barca and he wants to go and play in a team with the likes of Messi and ibrahimovic.

Not Lucas and Ngog...

Lucas could excel in any sport which requires the particpant to run sideways. Eggnog could go into Panto and play the bean stalk.
