Can someone please explain why this player is playing for us?

He is supposed to be a striker but is never in the box.

He gets picked more than Crouch who offers more of a goal threat than him.

He has been sh!te the last few months and would struggle to even get a start for Wigan.

So why the fuck is he playing for LFC?

In fairness there have been more bad signings than good I think.

Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is hoping to get a run in the side to prove his worth to the club's supporters.

Voronin was left out of the squad to face Birmingham after starting last week's Champions League clash with Lyon.

The 30-year-old, who returned to Liverpool in the summer after a loan spell with Hertha Berlin, has failed to convince when he has been given a chance, but the Ukrainian is determined to prove he can be a success on Merseyside.

"Last season was good for me because I wanted to play more matches," Voronin told the club's official website. "I went to Hertha Berlin, played a lot of games and scored goals. I was happy there.

"But I always wanted to come back to Liverpool because they are a massive club.

"It is very important for me to be here. I've spoken with Rafa and I want to take my chance, work hard and play for Liverpool.

"I hope in the next game I play, I can give the Liverpool supporters more."

According to the reports at German media outlet BL Eintracht Frankfurt are considering making a January move for Liverpool’s Andriy Voronin.

The reds front man signed two seasons ago on a free transfer but spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin where he enjoyed a relatively successful season for the German club.

Frankfurt’s Ioannis Amanatidis has been sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery and the club need to bring in somebody with proven Bundesliga experience. The media speculation has already caused consternation amongst Hertha fans who would have liked to have seen Andriy at their club permanently, Hertha could not complete the transfer due to financial problems.

Eintracht Frankfurt are chasing a Champions League place and are set to splash a bit of cash in the January transfer window.

Figures of between £2M-£3M have been suggested to take the player on a permanent deal. His Anfield contract runs out in the summer of 2011.

This is not only a meat market when we only buy & sell players, this is supposed to be football where the idea is to have the best squad possible to get the results required to win trophies.
